The Global Korea Scholarship (GKS) provides exchange students with full funding. This grant is available for undergraduate and graduate studies in 2025–2026. The scholarship pays for airfare, medical insurance, housing expenses, and a settling money.
Students have a rare opportunity to experience academic life at Seoul National University, one of the most prominent universities in the world and the most prestigious in Korea, through SNU ISI. Students can study a wide range of subjects from the fields of economics and business management to history, politics, sociology, and the arts at SNU ISIs, which are taught by eminent SNU and visiting faculty members.

More than 2,000 students from all over the world have taken part in the SNU ISI program since its inception in 2007 in order to learn, explore, and enjoy a memorable summer filled with academics, events, and enduring friendships.

RESTRICTION: Only students enrolled in business or economics majors at their home university are eligible to enroll in the College of Business Administration.
• Proof of proficiency in Korean is required of applicants for the KOREAN HISTORY/PSYCHOLOGY/STATISTICS MAJOR. Either (1) a Level 5 or higher score on the official Korean Language Proficiency Test or (2) a Level 5 or higher score on the Korean Test administered by the SNU Language Institute should be considered a good level of Korean language proficiency.
• Beginning in the spring of 2018, undergraduate students are not admitted to the College of Law.
- Beginning in the fall of 2018, undergraduate students will be able to enroll in the School of Law, a graduate-level law school. Please be aware that during their studies, these undergraduates will be enrolled at SNU law school as graduate (Master’s) students.
SNU coordinators must notify applicants in advance of their eligibility if they wish to pursue studies in the fields of medicine, pharmacy, dentistry, nursing, music, or MBA. - Exchange students are no longer able to attend the College of Medicine.
• Only master’s level students now enrolled in a master’s program at the School of Dentistry or an equivalent program at their home university are eligible to enroll in the College of Dentistry. The College of Dentistry does not provide the student exchange program to undergraduate students.
• Only students enrolled in their home university’s vocal music program are eligible to enroll in Vocal Music Major.
Scholarship Reports
The recipient of the GKS Scholarship receives the following advantages:
• Monthly living expenses come to 500,000 won.
• Upon arrival, 200,000 won is the settlement allowance.
• Round-trip airfare: Up to the predetermined sum can be reimbursed.
• Monthly medical insurance premium: 20,000 won, which is covered by each university.
Qualifications for GKS
The candidate must meet each of the requirements listed below in order to be eligible for the GKS Scholarship:
• English is the required language.
• All nations in the world are eligible.
• Candidates must be enrolled in the home university program for at least the second semester (i.e., have finished at least one semester prior to applying) * Therefore, at the application stage, we are unable to accept graduate students who are enrolled in the first semester of the Master’s degree.
• Candidates need to meet the following GPA threshold. (from entrance in the fall of 2020)
• Undergraduate: percentile rank 83 or GPA 2.5/4.0 (2.7/4.3)
• Master’s: percentile rank 89 or GPA 3.0/4.0 (3.3/4.3)
How Can I Apply for a Scholarship in Global Korea?
To apply for this scholarship, kindly adhere to the following guidelines.
1. Universities must nominate applicants, and the university must email the application package and an official nomination letter for the GKS scholarship to the applicants.
2. The selected SNU coordinator will provide the nominated candidates with comprehensive instructions on how to log in and submit an online application.
3. Use the online application form to apply for the exchange program, complete it, and upload scanned copies of the following documents to the application system:
An enrollment certificate from the university you are currently enrolled in.
• The official transcript from the university.
• A recommendation letter from a current university professor.
• A Statement of Purpose, which is a free essay in either Korean or English.
• A copy of the passport of the applicant.
• For applicants in the fields of fine arts, music, and physical education: pictures of completed pieces or recordings of performances
4.Send in the application.
IMPORTANT NOTES:
• Candidates for the exchange program can submit their applications online.
• All documents must be provided and posted in either English or Korean, and they must be authenticated as official copies. Please get your documents translated into Korean or English and have an authorized body verify and seal them if they are not already in either language.
