Indonesian Government KNB Scholarships for 2025: How to Apply

Young Nigerians can now apply for the 2025 Indonesian Government KNB Scholarships.

The Indonesian government provides financial aid to prospective international students from developing nations so they can pursue a bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degree at one of the country’s universities. This program is called the Kemitraan Negara Berkembang Scholarship, or KNB Scholarship.

For a limited number of overseas students, the Indonesian Government’s KNB Scholarship 2025 offers complete scholarships that include living expenses, airfare, housing, and tuition.

Details of the Indonesian Government KNB Scholarships:

KNB provides the opportunity to live in one of the most active and diverse societies in the world while attending one of Indonesia’s best institutions. Students who get the scholarship will have access to top-notch degree programs run by the 31 (thirty-one) university partners.

As part of national strategies to increase the number of world-class universities in Indonesia, the Indonesian Government KNB Scholarship seeks to enhance the research capacity of Indonesian higher education institutions.

In 2025, 222 (two hundred twenty-two) KNB Scholarship applicants will be accepted by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia, which has 31 (thirty-one) host universities. These applicants will include 30 Bachelor’s, 162 Master’s, and 30 Doctoral awardees.

Qualifications for Indonesian Government KNB Scholarships in 2025:

To be eligible for the scholarship, you need to have a bachelor’s

  1. Applicants for the scholarship must be at least 21 years old.
  2. Hold a High School degree (please provide the scanned degree certificate and academic transcripts in English or Bahasa). Please be advised that Bachelor degree holder is not eligible to apply for the Bachelor Degree scholarship.
  3. Have a score of 477 on the TOEFL ITP, 53 on the TOEFL IBT, 5.5 on the IELTS, and 510 on the TOEIC (the certificate must be received within the last two years) on the English Proficiency Test. Foreign nationals from English-speaking nations or university students enrolled in English-language programs (as indicated on their transcript or diploma) are exempt from submitting an English proficiency document as long as they have official documentation from their home university.
  4. Provide a letter of recommendation from the Indonesian Embassy or Consulate General to apply for the KNB scholarship.
  5. In English or Bahasa (if employed), include a letter of recommendation from the employer or immediate supervisor to apply for the KNB scholarship.
  6. Provide a letter of academic recommendation in either Bahasa or English from prior schools.
  7. Present your high school diploma in English or Bahasa together with your academic certificate and transcript.
  8. Present your official passport, which is still valid for at least two years, as proof of citizenship.

 

Master’s

  1. The award is only available to applicants who are at least 35 years old.
  2. Possess a bachelor’s degree (please send a scanned copy of your academic transcripts in either Bahasa or English). Please be aware that those who hold a master’s degree are not qualified to apply for the scholarship.
  3. Possess the following English proficiency test scores: 500 on the TOEFL ITP, 61 on the TOEFL IBT, 6.0 on the IELTS, and 575 on the TOEIC (the certificate must be received within the last two years). Foreign nationals from English-speaking nations or university students enrolled in English-language programs (as indicated on their transcript or diploma) are exempt from submitting an English proficiency document as long as they have official documentation from their home university.
  4. Provide a letter of recommendation from the Indonesian Embassy or Consulate General to apply for the KNB scholarship.
  5. In English or Bahasa (if employed), include a letter of recommendation from the employer or immediate supervisor to apply for the KNB scholarship.
  6. Provide a letter of academic recommendation in either Bahasa or English from prior schools.
  7. Present the academic transcript and certificate for the bachelor’s degree in either Bahasa or English.
  8. Present your official passport, which is still valid for at least two years, as proof of citizenship.

 

Doctoral

  1. The award is only available to applicants who are at least 40 years old.
  2. Have a master’s degree (please send a scanned copy of your academic transcripts in either Bahasa or English, together with your degree certificate). Please be aware that holders of doctorates are not eligible to apply for the award.
  3. Get a letter of recommendation in either Bahasa or English from the prospective research supervisor at one of the universities that are KNB Scholarsip partners.
  4. Give a statement of purpose that, at the at least, explains why they are studying in Indonesia, why they are interested in the research topic they have chosen, and their academic future plan (dissertation proposal) in either Bahasa or English.
  5. Possess the following scores on the English Proficiency Test: TOEFL ITP of 530, TOEFL IBT of 71, IELTS of 6.0, and TOEIC of 640 (the degree must have been earned within the last two years). Foreign nationals from English-speaking nations or university students enrolled in English-language programs (as indicated on their transcript or diploma) are exempt from submitting an English proficiency document as long as they have official documentation from their home university.
  6. Provide a letter of recommendation from the Indonesian Embassy or Consulate General to apply for the KNB scholarship.
  7. In English or Bahasa (if employed), include a letter of recommendation from the employer or immediate supervisor to apply for the KNB scholarship.
  8. Provide a letter of academic recommendation in either Bahasa or English from prior schools.
  9. Present a master’s degree academic transcript and certificate in either Bahasa or English.
  10. Present your official passport, which is still valid for at least two years, as proof of citizenship.

  2. High school academic/degree certificates; 3. High school academic transcripts;
  3. A recommendation letter from the Indonesian Embassy or Consulate General; 5. An endorsement letter from the immediate supervisor or employer
  4. An academic recommendation letter from prior schools;
  5. An English proficiency test certificate (IBT TOEFL of 80, IELTS of 6.0, or TOEIC of 700).

  2.
