The UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School funds the Regional Merit Based Scholarships, which are given to deserving applicants who will serve as ambassadors for the MBA and the School both during and after their studies. Usually, 50% of the MBA tuition is covered by these merit-based scholarships. However, in rare circumstances, they may pay for all of the tuition.

Qualifications for the MBA Regional Excellence Scholarship
Applicants must fulfill the following requirements in order to be considered for MBA Regional Excellence Scholarships:
English is a required language, and all nations worldwide are eligible.
Scholarship Conditions:
• Available to all accomplished international MBA candidates who have attained a GMAT score of 600 or higher. Please be aware that the GMAT application deadline for applicants from India and other regions is June 30, 2021.
• Those who hold two passports, such as an Irish or US passport, may apply.
- Candidates must have a “Offer” or “Accept” status linked to their GMAT application in order to be eligible to be evaluated for these scholarships.
• Only applications that are complete and submitted before the scholarship deadline will be taken into account.
Requirements for Admission to MBA Programs:
• A degree from an institution.
• A minimum of three years’ excellent professional experience (excluding summer placements, part-time or temporary work experience).
• A valid score of at least 600 on the Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT), which is required for full-time MBA programs. Our current MBA class’s average GMAT score is 646. A GMAT score of 520 or higher is necessary for an executive MBA. - The GMAC Executive Assessment (EA) requires an EA score of 149 or higher. How Can I Apply for a Scholarship for MBA Regional Excellence?
To be eligible for this scholarship, please follow the guidelines below:
(1) Applicants must use the UCD applications system to submit an online application.
(2) Applicants must answer three, or occasionally four, online essay questions:
• What will you bring to your MBA class that goes beyond what is listed in your curriculum vitae? (No more than 300 words).
• As an MBA student, what do you think UCD Smurfit Schools owes you, and what do you think the School owes you? (No more than 300 words). DO NOT go beyond the allotted word count.
• What are your career expectations in the 3 years post MBA? (No more than 300 words). DO NOT go beyond the allotted word count.
- In retrospect, have your professional objectives, perception of UCD Smurfit, and desire to obtain an MBA evolved since your previous application? (No more than 300 words). Only reapplying candidates should fill this out.
(3) You must upload the following supporting documents to your online application account:
Curriculum Vitae.
• A confirmation of the planned GMAT test date or an official GMAT score report.
• The official IELTS/TOEFL test report or, if relevant, confirmation of the test date.
• Copies of official degree and/or professional qualification final transcripts (degree certificates are not often needed, but they can be sought).
If you work for yourself, two completed MBA recommendation forms from clients or employers, either past or present. Before being submitted, these need to be manually signed and scanned for authenticity. Your referee can either send the completed recommendation form to mba@ucd.ie or use the Kira platform through the UCD application site to complete a brief video appraisal portion (available only to full-time MBA candidates).
Note: These scholarships do not have a separate application process. Every applicant who successfully completes the MBA or Executive MBA program is immediately taken into consideration. A rolling review process is used for applications. Outstanding applicants may receive scholarships before the deadline. Early application is advised.
