The Vienna BioCenter (VBC) is accepting applications for the three-year VIP2 postdoctoral fellowship program from individuals with expertise in biology, chemistry, physics, medicine, engineering, computer science, and bioinformatics. According to their individual projects, fellows choose a primary research group and academic mentor under the program’s two-mentor model. They are then assisted by a second mentor who may be selected from the VBC research institutes, the VBC biotech industry, our alumni network, and other sources.

People whose projects have the potential to become separate research lines are chosen by the Vienna International Postdoctoral Program, which acts as a springboard for a self-sufficient career path. Inter-lab and interdisciplinary projects are strongly encouraged.

Scholarship Reports

The following advantages are offered to the recipient of the Vienna International Postdoctoral Program:
• Salary: In accordance with Austrian law, each fellow is paid a gross salary of 70,040 EUR year in 14 installments (12 months + one Christmas and one holiday bonus).
• Complete health coverage
• Fully paid maternity leave (16 weeks), paid parental leave (up to 24 months), pension contributions, and accident insurance are all included in social security.

Families receive extra assistance for each child, known as “Familienbeihilfe,” which varies based on the child’s age and costs between 110 and 170 EUR per month.
•Families with only one income are eligible for tax deductions.
• There are systems in place to help with the fellows’ moving expenses.

Qualifications for the Vienna International Postdoctoral Program

The candidate must meet each of the conditions listed below in order to be eligible for the Vienna International Postdoctoral Program:

A PhD in the life sciences or a related field, such as physics, engineering, chemistry, computer science, or mathematics, is required of applicants, and the planned scientific project must be consistent with the campus research (applicants should identify one or more possible host groups).
