By giving them the chance to grow in their careers, follow their aspirations, and become role models for women and girls in their communities, the TechWomen Program for Emerging Leaders seeks to empower, connect, and assist the next generation of women leaders in STEM.
The five-week program consists of project-based mentorships at top companies in Chicago or the San Francisco Bay Area, professional development workshops, and networking events. To wrap up the program, participants travel to Washington, DC, for special events and targeted meetings.

TechWomen supports the United States’ global commitment toward advancing the rights and participation of women and girls around the world by enabling them to reach their full potential in the tech industry.
Algeria, Cameroon, Egypt, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Kenya, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Nigeria, Pakistan, the Palestinian Territories, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Tunisia, Uzbekistan, Yemen, and Zimbabwe are among the more than 1,000 women who have taken part in TechWomen over the last twelve years.
Qualifications for the 2025 TechWomen Program
Candidates must be women with at least two years of full-time work experience in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) fields in order to be considered for the TechWomen Program for Emerging Leaders. Please be aware that the two-year professional experience requirement is not met by internships or other unpaid work experience.
Possess a four-year university degree, bachelor’s degree, or its equivalent.
Have fluency in both spoken and written English.
• At the time of application and during program participation, they must be citizens or permanent residents of Algeria, Cameroon, Egypt, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Nigeria, Pakistan, the Palestinian Territories, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Tajikistan, Tunisia, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, or Zimbabwe.
• Have the ability to apply for a J-1 exchange visitor visa to the United States.
• During the previous five years, you have not filed for an immigrant visa to the United States (except from the Diversity Immigrant Visa, also referred to as the “visa lottery”).
• Not be a citizen or a lawful permanent resident of the United States.
Benefits of the 2025 TechWomen Program
- The TechWomen program covers the following expenses:
o Round-trip international flight to the US from the participant’s home country
o Housing in San Francisco, Sunnyvale, California, Emeryville, California, or Chicago, Illinois for the mentorship period
o Domestic flight from San Francisco or Chicago to Washington, D.C.
o Meals and incidentals
The participant will be provided with lodging in Washington, D.C.; public transportation to their host company; and local transportation to group program events in Chicago, Illinois, the San Francisco Bay Area, and Washington, D.C.
Any non-program activities, such as individual sightseeing and cultural events, as well as any domestic or international travel that is not related to the program, are the participants’ responsibility.
Housing TechnologyDepending on where their host company is located, women participants will be hosted in San Francisco, Sunnyvale, California, Emeryville, California, or Chicago, Illinois. Participants and another Emerging Leader will live together in the same apartment. The living room and kitchen will be shared, but each member will have an own bedroom.
