After their external scholarship funding expires, PhD students who earn Tri-Agency scholarships will get a 4YF stipend and tuition support until the completion of their fourth year of study. These students may also be eligible for 4YF tuition coverage.

How Can I Apply for a Doctoral Fellowship at the University of British Columbia?
To apply for the four-year doctoral fellowship program at the University of British Columbia, please follow these steps:
1.Students apply for admission to the relevant graduate program at UBC in order to be eligible for financing for the Four Year Fellowship.
2. 4YF funding is automatically considered for all PhD applicants who are accepted.
3.A certain number of Four Year Fellowships are awarded annually to each graduate program. Graduate programs evaluate both new and returning students and provide Four Year Fellowships to the top students, with incoming students receiving preference.
4.Graduate programs provide a signed University Award Recommendation Form with award number 6456 to the Faculty of Graduate Studies to inform them of the students who have been selected to earn a Four Year Fellowship.
5. Listing the prize amount is not required.
6. At least eight weeks before to the desired 4YF start date, recommendation forms must be turned in.
