U.S. singer Usher bags Music doctorate from a US university

Berklee College of Music in the United States has granted Usher Raymond IV, better known by his stage as Usher, an honorary doctorate in music.

Before being discovered by a music A&R from LaFace Records, Usher Raymond IV, an American R&B singer-songwriter and recording artist, began performing in local singing competitions at the age of 12.

In recognition of his noteworthy achievements to both music and philanthropy, Usher received an Honorary Doctorate degree from the Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts, in the United States. Following his acceptance of the honorary degree, he thanked the esteemed university on Instagram.

“I’m so grateful for this opportunity to share a message with the next generation of artists, producers, vocalists, arrangers, dancers, and more. Thank you @berkleecollege for honoring me and awarding me a Doctor of Music degree,” he wrote as the caption for his Instagram photo.

During the graduation ceremony, he also gave some advise to the graduating class, urging them to keep going and be willing to accept any mistakes they made.

Break down the obstacles, find the inner spark that keeps you going, and don’t expect everything to go as planned. Go out into the world and create amazing things using what you’ve learnt at Berklee,” he urged.

The musician was hailed as a global megastar, eight-time Grammy Award winner, and Doctor of Music by the Berkley College of Music administration on Instagram.

In a different narrative, Miles Brown, a 19-year-old American actor, graduated first in his class and was named the Blue Ridge Academy’s best-graduating student in the United States.
