The University of the Western Cape is seeking eligible African students who are ready to enroll in full-time courses in 2025 to apply for a variety of undergraduate and graduate Mastercard Scholarships at UWC.

The Scholars Program would fully support tuition, housing, travel, laptops, books, and other associated expenses for young people whose access to higher education is hampered by social and economic constraints.

Western Cape University Mastercard Scholarship

In order to be eligible for the Mastercard Scholarship at the University of the Western Cape, you need to:

For undergraduates: Applicants must meet the following three requirements at the time of application:
The following four requirements must be met by the applicant at the time of application:
• Be at least 26 years old for undergraduate studies;
• Meet the minimum requirements for admission to the university (for information specific to a program or discipline, visit www.uwc.ac.za);
• Have applied for academic admission to the university for 2025;
• Be ready to enroll in full-time undergraduate studies in January 2025;
• Show that social and economic barriers prevent access to university studies.

Applicants are not eligible for this award if they plan to enroll in a second master’s program.

Regarding Masters:
The following four requirements must be met by the applicant at the time of application:
• have applied for academic admission to the university for 2024;
• be ready to start their first year of registration for full-time master’s degree study in January 2024;
• meet the minimum admission requirements set by the university (for program/discipline-specific information, visit www.uwc.ac.za);
• be no older than 30 years for master’s degree studies;
• demonstrate that social and economic barriers prevent access to university studies.

Also apply for: The 2025 European Union CREATE Green Africa Scholarship is fully funded.

Applicants are not eligible for this award if they plan to enroll in a second master’s program.

Reaching young women, refugees and adolescents who have been forcibly displaced, and youth with disabilities is a special focus of the program, and they are urged to apply.

Qualification for Postgraduate Study: Master’s Degree Subjects/areas of study:

Applied linguistics, history, gender justice, migration studies, and sociology for development are among the humanities and arts; public health is a community and health science; development studies, information sciences, and migration studies are among the economic and management sciences; governance and human rights are among the law; and biological, computational, mathematical, and physical sciences are among the natural sciences.

Online form submission is the recommended application technique. Please be aware that applications submitted both online and through downloadable forms will be automatically disqualified, and that duplicate applications will not be accepted.
