The 2025 National Scholarship Program of the Slovak Republic Government

The NSP Slovak Republic is now accepting applications. We shall go into great depth about this scholarship program, including its advantages and the detailed application procedure, in this post.
International students can apply for fully financed scholarships under the Slovak Republic’s National Scholarship Program for 2025–2026. Both master’s and doctoral degrees are eligible for these awards. Up to €1025 per month is covered by the scholarship.

Scholarships for PhD candidates, university instructors, researchers, artists, and overseas students In order to facilitate the mobility of students, PhD candidates, university instructors, researchers, and artists, the Slovak Republic’s government authorized the creation of the National Scholarship Program in 2005.

The Slovak Republic’s Ministry of Education, Science, Research, and Sport provides funding for the National Scholarship Programme (NSP). International students, PhD candidates, university instructors, researchers, and artists can go to Slovakia for scholarship stays at universities and research organizations thanks to the Slovak Republic’s National Scholarship Program.

Scholarship Reports

The following advantages will be offered to the recipient of the National Scholarship Program:
• The scholarship is meant to cover the living expenses of international scholarship holders, such as those associated with lodging, food, and other expenses, while they are studying, conducting research, or teaching at Slovakian universities and research organizations. The scholarship recipient can either ask his or her host institution for help with lodging and the procedures involved in traveling to and remaining in the Slovak Republic, or he or she can take care of all the requirements on their own.

Qualifications for the Slovak Republic’s National Scholarship Program

The candidate must meet each of the standards listed below in order to be eligible for the National Scholarship Program:
• All nations worldwide are eligible; English is one of the required languages.
• Students who:
• attend universities outside of Slovakia;
• are enrolled in master’s programs at the second level of higher education; or
• have finished at least 2.5 years of university coursework in the same program by the application deadline;

Who will be studying in Slovakia while pursuing their higher education outside of the country, and who will be granted admission to a public, private, or state institution in Slovakia as part of an academic mobility1 program.qualified candidates for a scholarship under the NSP:A framework.
• PhD students who have been accepted into a public, private, or state university or research institution in Slovakia for an academic mobility1 to study, conduct research, or engage in artistic endeavors and who received their scientific training or higher education outside of Slovakia.

International students and PhD candidates accepted for full higher education (bachelor, master’s, and doctoral studies) in Slovakia, as well as those enrolled in full higher education in Slovakia who wish to use the NSP to finance their studies there, are not eligible for the National Scholarship Program.

  • foreign applicants who have spent a total of 12 months or more on Slovak Republic territory within 36 months before the application deadline;
  • Foreign candidates who are being awarded a scholarship in Slovakia as part of other public scholarship programs (such as the International Visegrad Fund, Erasmus+, CEEPUS, bilateral agreements, etc.)

How to Apply for the National Scholarship Program

To apply for the National Scholarship Program, kindly adhere to the following instructions:
First Action:
• Candidates need to complete their online applications and upload all necessary files in the appropriate format.
• Only Slovak or English-language applications and necessary attachments may be submitted by applicants; documents written in other languages must be formally translated into either Slovak or English; the translation can be certified by the same organization that issued the original document.

  • It is required to upload a scan of any documents that are attached to the application but were issued by someone other than the applicant, such as recommendation letters, study confirmations, diplomas, diploma supplements, state examination certificates, and admission/invitation letters. All original papers that the applicant has attached to the online application in electronic format must be kept and archived. The applicant must also provide the program administrator with the originals (or certified copies of the originals) upon request.

The second step is for the applicant to click the “SEND” button to submit the application after filling it out and attaching any necessary papers.  The original admission/invitation letter must also be delivered to SAIA, n. o., in Bratislava (SAIA, n. o., Sasinkova 10, 812 20 Bratislava 1).

  • This document must be supplied by 12 p.m. on the third working day following the application deadline, at the latest (the legal situation in Slovakia is taken into consideration when establishing the working days).
