STORY: An extraordinary man stands out despite his physical scars after graduating from FUTA with a bachelor’s degree (Video)
Great Nkor is a remarkable Nigerian who overcame all obstacles to earn a bachelor’s degree from the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), located in South West Nigeria.
Great Nkor had to undergo 17 surgeries in South Africa as a result of his numerous injuries sustained in a fire accident when he was a child.

Great Nkor experienced a number of mental health issues as a result of his appearance and his parents’ financial difficulties following the fire incident that left him with numerous scars, most notably on his face.
One of Nigeria’s top telecom providers, MTN, got in touch with his parents in 2009 and offered to help him with a number of operations and educational support. After being flown to South Africa, he underwent roughly 17 procedures to repair the scars, all of which were paid for by MTN.
Every selected undergraduate in Nigeria receives a scholarship award from MTN Nigeria, which provides N200,000 annually till graduation. The 2021 Scholarship Award was made public in July and ended in August of that year. By July 2022, it is anticipated that applications will be reopened.
Great Nkor was pleased to declare that he has earned a Bachelor of Science in Industrial and Product Design from the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), having benefited greatly from the MTN Foundation Scholarships.
