Coverage of Scholarships in Australia Awards

The following advantages are offered to scholarship recipients:
• Total tuition costs

• A payment for study materials, textbooks, and lodging costs

• Return flight travel: purchasing a single ticket in economy class to and from Australia using the quickest possible route

• Contribution to Living expenditures (CLE): a biweekly payment made at a department-determined rate toward basic living expenditures.

• The cost of pre-course English (PCE)

• Overseas Student Health Coverage (OSHC), which covers the scholar’s basic medical expenses (excluding pre-existing conditions) for the term of the award (for award holder only).

• Before official academic studies start, students must complete the Introductory Academic Program (IAP), a mandatory course that covers living and studying in Australia.To guarantee a scholar’s academic performance or improve their academic experience, additional academic support could be available.
For qualifying research students, fieldwork may be offered for one return economy class airfare via the most direct route to their country of citizenship or inside Australia (for research awards and Masters by coursework that have a research component where fieldwork is compulsory).

 

Qualifications for Scholarships from the Australia Awards

The following requirements must be fulfilled by applicants in order to be eligible for Australia Awards Scholarships:
• English is the required language.

• Eligible Countries: People who live in one of the Middle Eastern, African, Pacific, or Asian participating nations. View the full list of nations that are taking part.

• On February 1st of the year the scholarship is awarded, be at least 18 years old;

• Not be an Australian citizen, have permanent status in Australia, or be requesting a visa to live there permanently.

• Be a citizen of one of the participating nations (as stated on the Australia Awards website), live in their nation of citizenship, and apply for the scholarship there.

  • During the application, selection, or mobilization stages, you must not be married to, engaged to, or de facto of someone who has, or is eligible to have, Australian or New Zealand citizenship or permanent residency (note: residents of Cook Islands, Niue, and Tokelau with New Zealand citizenship are eligible but must apply for a student visa [subclass 500]).
    • Have never received a long-term Australia Award before, unless they have lived abroad for twice as long as they were in Australia overall (for instance, a previous recipient who has been in Australia on an Australia Awards Scholarship for four years will not be able to apply for another Australia Awards Scholarship until they have lived abroad for the perios of eight years).
  • Not currently serving in the armed forces.
    • Fulfilled any special requirements set forth by the Program Area or the government of the applicant’s home country (such as working in a certain industry for a predetermined number of years).

    • Be able to meet every prerequisite set forth by the Department of Home Affairs in order to obtain a student visa. If the beneficiary is unable to meet the visa criteria, the Program Area may have to revoke the offer of an award.

  • Be able to meet the entrance standards of the institution where the award will be given; if the recipient is unable to meet these conditions, Program Areas may have to revoke the offer of the award. Program Areas may request a placement at specific universities before this is revealed.
    • Not submitting an application for a scholarship for a course of study at a lower academic level than what they have already accomplished (for example, submitting an application for a Master’s scholarship once they have earned a PhD).
  • In order for the application to be handled appropriately and openly, applicants must disclose to the Program Area any affiliations or relationships they may have with managing contractors or Program Area employees, including locally involved workers at post.

 

How Do I Apply for Scholarships from the Australia Awards?

To be eligible for Australia Awards Scholarships, please follow the guidelines below:
1. Making an online application: Visit the Scholarships Information System for Online Australia (OASIS). To determine your eligibility, you will be asked a series of questions during the online registration process. After that, a special registration number, username, and password will be assigned to you. Your application does not have to be submitted right away. According to the appropriate participating nation profile, you have until the specified closing date to draw up a draft application form and update it along with your supporting material.

  1. Your application cannot be altered once it has been submitted. We strongly encourage candidates to apply online as soon as possible before the deadline. The days before the closing date are when OASIS is most used, and candidates may encounter delays.
