Qualifications for the SBW Berlin Scholarship

The candidate must meet each of the requirements listed below in order to be eligible for the SBW Berlin Scholarship:

  • English is the required language.
  • All nations in the world are eligible.
  • Maximum Age: 18 to 30 years old
  • Candidates should be enrolled in a state-recognized institution (in Germany or overseas) before to the commencement of their studies, or completely enrolled in the first, second, or maximum third semester; they may also be applying for a Master’s degree soon before or after earning a Bachelor’s degree. A German grade point average of at least 2.0 is equivalent to average grades.
  • Candidates who can demonstrate a comparatively low net income. The applicants’ total household income falls below the publicly declared average income for their nation of origin. Every household member’s income as well as the family’s revenue from all sources—such as jobs, business ventures, real estate, child benefits, or pensions—will be considered.
  • After-school Activities Experience: Candidates with prior volunteer or professional experience in the nonprofit industry.

How can I submit an SBW Berlin Scholarship application?

To apply for this scholarship, kindly adhere to the following guidelines.

Note: You should have proof of eligibility, acceptance, or admission to a university in Potsdam or Berlin.

(1) Complete the application.

(2) Enter your contact details, personal information, and a photo.

(3) Describe your prior and present educational background.

(4) Give details regarding the following:

Your parents and other family members.
• Current occupation and desired career;
• Training, if applying for vocational training;
• Internships and professional experience;
• Your skills, hobbies, and interests;
• Your most recent school or university certificate;
• Your highest school leaving certificate;
• Your highest obtained university degree
• Experience volunteering;
• Experience traveling overseas

(5) Attach the following files:
• One or two-page motivation letter;
• A copy of your most recent diploma from school or university, which includes your grade point average and a summary of your grades
• A copy of your greatest academic accomplishment, such as a high school or university degree, together with your grade point average and a summary of your grades

Copies of the following documents, if they are available:
• A copy of an internationally recognized language certificate for the language in which your studies will be taught;
• Admission to the university or proof of your eligibility for admission;
• All references and certifications from prior employment, training, apprenticeships, and internships
• If you have already begun your studies, you have all acquired university credentials and achievement records, both graded and ungraded.
Although they are not required, we advise all applicants to submit the following extra documents:
• One or two recommendation letters from employers, instructors, professors, etc.
Proof of the household’s net income

Note: Translations and non-certified copies are adequate for the application. Certified copies of certain of those documents will be needed for verification if the applicant makes it through the selection process.
(6) The application, along with any included certificates and supporting documentation, must be sent to application@sbw.berlin by email in either German or English.

At the beginning of February or the beginning of August of each year, the ultimate decision regarding the awarding of a scholarship (beginning the subsequent semester) can be anticipated.
