Record-breaking Nigerian football player Asisat Oshoala marks his 28th birthday.
Asisat Oshoala, a Nigerian football player, celebrates her 28th birthday today, October 9, capping an incredible and prosperous life since her 1994 birth.
Asisat won the Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) best women player of the year title for a record five times, making her the greatest female football player in Africa’s history. She passed Perpetua Nkwocha of Nigeria, who has won the award four times.
After playing brilliantly for both the Nigerian squad and Barcelona, she also became the first African woman to be nominated for the World Women’s Ballon d’Or player of the year award.
After winning the Golden Shoe and Golden Ball at the U-20 Women’s World Cup in 2014, Asisat received one of Nigeria’s highest honors, the Member of the Order of the Niger (MON), from the Nigerian government.

Asisat wrote, “Alhamdulillah (Praise be to Allah),” in a brief tweet on her 28th birthday. Her Barcelona relatives and Nigerians were among the many well-wishers who congratulated her on her accomplishment at the age of 28.
