Details of the 2025 Obama Foundation Scholars Program: Rising leaders from all over the world are being invited to apply for the seventh cohort of the Obama Foundation Scholars Program at Columbia University, which is a part of Columbia World Projects and Columbia Global. The program will be an immersive nine-month program of academic, skill-based, and experiential learning.
In order to give the Obama Scholars the practical knowledge, resources, and experiences they need to increase the impact of their work once they return home, the Obama Foundation provides a comprehensive program of leadership development, training, networking opportunities, and individualized support throughout the academic year.
Scholars can plan how they want to reinvest their new knowledge, networks, and skills after they graduate from the program by using these experiences to learn from high-level leaders in various sectors and the wealth of knowledge within the Obama Foundation program participants’ network.
2025 Obama Foundation Scholarship Requirements
Columbia University’s Obama Foundation Scholarship Program is looking for up-and-coming leaders in the US and abroad who fit the following requirements:
- Possess a demonstrated dedication to leadership and service within a community, region, or nation, as well as a commitment to return to these communities after completing the program and use their improved training, skills, and connections over an extended period of time for the benefit of these communities; • Are up-and-coming leaders who have made significant contributions to their field and are currently at a “breakthrough moment” in their careers.
Possess the capacity and desire to positively influence their community’s future; speak, write, and understand English fluently; and exhibit a proven dedication to diversity, community orientation, hope, courage, imagination, strategy, accountability, integrity, and resilience.
Program Length and Benefits for Obama Foundation Scholars
- A year will be the duration of the scholarship period.The scholarship will pay for living expenses in New York City with a monthly stipend.
- A fully equipped studio apartment close to Columbia University that is accessible by foot
- All Columbia University tuition and fees for a maximum of four courses
For the duration of the program, basic health, dental, and life insurance o Air travel to and from the home country and any activities associated with the program
o The Obama Foundation’s leadership development programs will assist academics in acquiring practical knowledge, resources, and experiences that will enable them to increase the impact of their work after they return home.
