The following rewards are given to the winners of the Government of Flanders Master Mind Scholarships:
• A Master Mind Scholarship covers tuition fees for 60 ECTS per academic year in addition to a grant of € 8,200.
• The only cost for recipients of the Master Mind Scholarship is an administrative enrollment fee. The stipend, which is paid in installments, covers a sizable portion of their living expenditures as well as the cost of housing and insurance.

Qualifications for Master Mind Scholarships from the Government of Flanders

Requirements for Language:
The student’s command of the English language is good:
• a minimum TOEFL score of 94;
• a C1 level of the Common European Framework of Reference;
• a minimum IELTS overall band score of 7.0;
• or a comparable outcome in another approved language test (accepted by the host institution).

When applying to a Master’s program at a School of Arts, students must have at least a B2 level on the Common European Framework of Reference, a minimum total score of 90 on the TOEFL, an overall band score of at least 6.5 on the IELTS, or a comparable score on another official English language test that is accepted by the host institution.

• The candidate seeks to enroll in a Master’s program at a Flanders-based higher education establishment (referred to as the “Host institution”).
•The candidate should possess exceptional academic standing and/or promise: Out of 4.0, the student’s grade point average is 3.5.

• The student’s file is also subjected to an academic check by the host school.

To be eligible for the scholarship, the student must be accepted by the host university. This criterion is applicable even if the host school decides to accept the student after the Master Mind Scholarships program has been chosen.
• All nationalities are eligible to apply. The prior degree must have been from an institution of higher learning outside of Flanders. Master Mind Scholarships are still available to international students who have completed credit mobility at a Flemish higher education institution that is hosting them.
Students who are currently enrolled at a Flemish university are not eligible to apply. International students who are already enrolled in a particular preparatory program in order to begin a master’s degree in September 2023 at the time of their application in the spring of 2024 are the only exception.
• During the master’s program, students are permitted to move around. Nonetheless, the Flemish Host school must provide at least half of the master’s program’s credits.

How Do I Apply for Master Mind Scholarships from the Government of Flanders?

To apply for Master Mind Scholarships, please adhere to the guidelines below:
(1) Verify your eligibility to apply and whether the Flemish university of your choice is a Master Mind Scholarship participant. The host institution receives the application from the applicant. The host institution may have different internal deadlines (see § 6. Timing).

(2) The candidate’s application is accepted by the host institution.

(3) By creating the candidate’s application file in the Mobility-Online tool, the host institution initiates the Master Mind scholarship application process.

(4) The Mobility-Online tool notifies the candidate via email that they have been pre-selected for a Master Mind scholarship.
(5) Before the deadline, the applicant registers and completes his or her application file in the Mobility-Online tool.
The following documents must be uploaded:
• A certified translation of the transcript of records, if it is written in a language other than Dutch, French, German, or English;
• A passport photo;
• An international passport or national ID.
Results of an English language exam or a letter of exemption from the host university; a motivation letter in English; and two English-language recommendation letters from instructors at your (former) home university, university of applied sciences, school of arts, or most recent workplace.

A copy of the obtained diploma or diplomas; if they are not in Dutch, French, German, or English, a certified translation needs to be included.
• Three justifications (at least 150 words) for submitting the application, written in English by the host institution; format: separate document or text field in the application form.

(6) Before the deadline of midnight on April 30, 2021 GMT+1, the host institution verifies and submits the completed application file via the Mobility Online tool. After midnight on April 30, 2021 GMT+1, validated applications will not be accepted.
