Scholarship Reports

The following scholarship sums are awarded to recipients of Birkbeck International Scholarships:
• £4,000 (first year only, tuition fee only)
• £2000 (first year only, tuition fee only)
• £1500 (first year only, tuition fee only)
• £1000 (first year only, tuition fee only).

Vital data: Scholarships cannot be used in combination with other full scholarships, such as Chevening. After being chosen for the scholarship, you have two weeks to finish paying the £2000 non-refundable deposit.

 

Qualifications

The applicant must meet each of the standards listed below in order to be eligible for Birkbeck International Scholarships: • English is the required language.

• Sub-Saharan Africa, Asia (Central, South, South East, and East Asia), the Caribbean, Latin America, and the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) are among the eligible nations.

• You are a tuition-paying international student who has been given an unconditional spot in Birkbeck’s full-time undergraduate or graduate taught program, beginning in the fall of 2023. To be eligible, you must have been evaluated as an overseas fee-payer.

• You typically dwell in a nation in the area in question.

• You pay for yourself.

  • You pay tuition fees as a “International” student.Each student may only get one scholarship award, and the scholarship cannot often be used in conjunction with another scholarship.

 

How Do I Apply for International Scholarships at Birkbeck?

To apply for Birkbeck International Scholarships, please adhere to the guidelines below:
(1) Apply to the university here and review the general admission requirements.

(2) You can apply using the online application form for the area in which you typically reside after receiving an unconditional offer from Birkbeck.

• An application for those who often live in Asia or Central Asia

• You have to be a citizen of one of the following countries and reside there: Bangladesh, Pakistan, or India.

  • Application form for people who often live in South East Asia or East Asia
    • You must reside in one of the following territories and be a citizen of that territory: China, Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Indonesia, Japan, Laos, Macau Special Administrative Region, Malaysia, Myanmar, Brunei, Cambodia, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam.
    • Application form for people who typically live in North Africa or the Middle East

    • One of the following countries must be your home country: Egypt, Libya, Morocco, Bahrain, Kuwait, Syria, Jordan, Tunisia, Turkey, or the United Arab Emirates.

    • An application for those who typically live in North America

    • You have to be a citizen of the United States or Canada and reside there.

    • Application form for those who typically live in the Caribbean or Latin America

  • With the exception of Brazil, you must be a citizen of a Latin American or Caribbean nation and reside there. You may qualify for the Birkbeck Global Future Scholarship (see above) if you are a citizen of Brazil.
    • An application for people who often live in Sub-Saharan Africa
    • To be eligible, you must be a citizen or a resident of one of the following countries: Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Kenya, Lesotho, Liberia, Madagascar, Malawi, Mali, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Niger, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Tanzania, The Gambia, Togo, Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Angola, Benin, Botswana, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Central African Republic, Chad, Comoros, Congo (Brazzaville), Congo (Democratic Republic), and Equatorial Guinea.

(3) The selection of successful scholars will be based on a statement supporting the application that is no more than 4,000 characters. They should explain in the statement why they are the best person to receive the scholarship.
(4) You will receive an email informing you whether you are selected for this scholarship. A £200 non-refundable deposit must be paid by the deadline specified on your award letter, which is often five working days.
(5) To be eligible for the award, you must successfully enroll for the Autumn 2024 intake by October 8, 2024, at the latest.
