For international students, the Justus & Louise van Effen Excellence Scholarships 2025–2026 offer full funding. The Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands is offering these scholarships for master’s degree programs. The recipient of these scholarships will receive €30,000 year.
TU Delft offers several scholarships to deserving international applicants. The legacy of Justus and Louise von Effen provides funding for the Justus & Louise Van Effen Excellence Stipends. In the 1940s, Mr. van Effen conducted research at TU Delft and firmly believed that advances in technology would aid in the resolution of social issues. The Justus & Louise von Effen Foundation was established to encourage and provide social support for exceptional international master’s degree candidates who wish to teach at TU Delft.

The following advantages are awarded to the laureate of the Justus & Louise van Effen Excellence Scholarship:
- About €11,500 annually for EU/EFTA students; approximately €30,000 annually for non-EU/EFTA students
This covers:
- Full annual tuition fees for an MSc program at TU Delft, which are determined by the institutional rate or statutory fee based on the registered nationality, PLUS living expenses; to Membership in the Scholarship Club, which grants access to workshops, seminars, and other opportunities for personal growth.
Qualifications for the Justus & Louise van Effen Excellence Awards
In order to qualify for the Justus & Louise van Effen Excellence Scholarships, applicants need to meet the following criteria:
English is the required language, and all nations worldwide are eligible.
• Having a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 80 percent or higher of the scale maximum in the bachelor’s degree from an internationally recognized university outside of the Netherlands;
Being an excellent international applicant (conditionally) admitted to one of the two-year Regular TU Delft’s MSc programs.
How Do I Apply for Scholarships for Justus and Louise van Effen Excellence?
To apply for the Justus & Louise van Effen Excellence Scholarship, please adhere to the guidelines below:
(1) Fill up your MSc application, making sure to review the prerequisites.
(2) In addition to the standard supporting documentation for an application to an MSc program:
• Upload the application for the scholarship.
• In accordance with the necessary documentation, upload two reference letters in a single PDF document. Two letters of recommendation in Dutch, German, French, or English. These letters have to be:
• from an assistant professor or former professor. One of these letters can be from your employer if you have work experience.
• Printed on official letterhead and bearing the university’s or business’s official stamp.
Please add your full name and the referee’s signature.
Does your referee have any reservations about giving you the letter? A scanned PDF of the letter can then be sent by email to contactcentre-esa@tudelft.nl. Your full name and student number from TU Delft must be included in his or her email. This number will be sent to you when you register on Studielink. If you select this option, you will need to post a statement to osiaan.tudelft.nl under “reference letter” to advise us of your decision. Include your referee’s name and email address in this message. Please be aware that non-EU/EFTA students must submit their application together with their English test results, if applicable. In accordance with the admission guidelines, students who are EU/EFTA may submit this document at a later time.
