ICGEB’s 2025 Arturo Falaschi Postdoctoral Fellowships

International students can apply for the fully funded Arturo Falaschi Postdoctoral Fellowships 2025–2026. The fellowship has a two-year term with a one-year extension option. The Fellowships offer a very attractive package that includes health insurance, a stipend, and other advantages.

Five different types of long- and short-term PhD and postdoctoral awards are available to scientists who are citizens of ICGEB Member States to conduct research in Trieste, New Delhi, or Cape Town through the ICGEB Arturo Falaschi Fellowship Programs, which are named in honor of Prof. Arturo Falaschi, the center’s founder and driving force.

Scholarship Reports
The following advantages will be offered to the recipient of an Arturo Falaschi Postdoctoral Fellowship:
Monthly stipend: ZAR 23,000 in Cape Town, South Africa; US$ 1,590 in New Delhi, India; and Euro 2,000 in Trieste, Italy.
The fellowship covers medical health insurance coverage for the duration of the fellowship, as well as travel expenses from the participant’s home country to the ICGEB lab at the start of the fellowship and a return trip provision at the end of the fellowship.
The budget of the study group will cover all research expenses.
• The costs of applying for and renewing a visa or permit of stay are covered.
Support for attending meetings and courses is often given by the group leader or principal investigator. ICGEB does not offer financial or administrative assistance to program participants’ families.
Accommodations:
• ICGEB Trieste: ICGEB Trieste does not offer lodging or housing services. Nonetheless, a list of potential contacts offering accommodation possibilities in Trieste will be given to fellows.
• ICGEB New Delhi: For a little fee, a guest house on campus is operated on a twin-share basis.
• ICGEB Cape Town: Fellows receive assistance with housing. Before arriving, arrangements are made.
Qualifications for Arturo Falaschi Postdoctoral Fellowships
The following criteria must be met in order for an applicant to be eligible for an Arturo Falaschi Postdoctoral Fellowship:
• English is the required language.
• Eligible Countries: Candidates must be citizens of an ICGEB Member State and are not eligible to apply for fellowships to be completed in their home country unless they have been employed overseas for at least three years prior to the application.
Candidates must have at least three years of research experience in addition to a recent PhD in the life sciences.
• Candidates under 35 years old are given preference.
