Award-winning Nigerian artist David Adeleke, better known by his stage name Davido, reflects on his life’s accomplishments as a musician, both domestically and abroad.
During a Nigerian podcast, Davido, who went to the British International School in Lagos, Nigeria, disclosed that his French instructor at the time informed him that his low marks would make him nothing in life.

“I cried on my birthday,” he remarked. I am aware of how poor my grades were. I was the student who was least likely to succeed in school. According to my French teacher, I will not be anything in this world. I admit that, despite my good intentions, I was a rotten kid.
As the most popular musician in Africa on social media, Davido is among the top musicians in the world. He has won more than 30 accolades in his musical career, defying his French teacher’s prediction that he would become a great person.
In his academic endeavors, Davido studied business administration at Oakwood University in Alabama, USA, but left to focus on his musical career in London.
He went on to study music at Babcock University in Nigeria, becoming one of the school’s first music graduates.
