For American undergraduate students, the Horatio Alger Scholarship 2025–2026 offers full funding. The award for this scholarship is $25,000. It is given to 106 applicants who wish to enroll in an American institution.
The Horatio Alger National Scholarship Program is one of the biggest college financial assistance programs in the country and focuses on helping high school students who have persevered through significant challenges in their high school years. Horatio Alger members who, like the Scholars, have faced obstacles but have overcome them to become prosperous business and civic leaders are the ones who support the scholarships.
Eligible students in Puerto Rico, the District of Columbia, and all 50 states are eligible to receive the National Scholarship. In the spring of their senior year, National Scholars are given a fully compensated travel to Washington, D.C., to attend the National Scholars Conference. To be eligible to receive the award, recipients must be present at the National Scholars Conference.
Applications for the Horatio Alger Scholarship will be accepted from August 1 through October 25. The Horatio Alger Scholarship application is a standard application, so you only need to submit one application to be eligible for the Association’s several scholarship programs. Your application and all necessary materials must be uploaded to your online application by October 25 at 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time in order for it to be considered.

• A grant of $25,000 to 106 candidates for four years of undergraduate study at any US college.
Qualifications for the Horatio Alger Scholarship
The candidate must meet each of the standards listed below in order to be eligible for the Horatio Alger Scholarship:
• English is the required language.
• USA is an eligible country.
• Be enrolled full-time as a senior in high school in the United States; be making regular progress toward graduation in the spring or summer of 2020; and have intentions to enroll in an American college by the fall of the year after graduation.
• Demonstrate a strong desire to enroll in and finish a bachelor’s degree program at a U.S. public or private, accredited, non-profit college (students may begin their studies at a two-year institution and subsequently transfer to a four-year institution).
• Show that there is an urgent need for money ($55,000 or less adjusted gross family income is required). Participate in extracurricular and volunteer work.
• Show honesty and tenacity in the face of difficulty.
