International students can apply for the Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme to study for a PhD in Hong Kong, China. The Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme was created in 2009 by the Hong Kong Research Grants Council (RGC) with the goal of luring top students from all over the world to Hong Kong universities to pursue PhD programs.
For a maximum of three years, the Fellowship offers each recipient an annual stipend of HK$325,200 (about US$41,690) as well as a conference and research-related travel allowance of HK$13,600 (around US$1,740). The academic year 2023–2024 will see the awarding of 300 PhD Fellowships.

Scholarship Reports
The following advantages are offered to the recipient of the Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme for International Students:
• A HK$325,200 (about US$41,690) stipend per year
• For a maximum of three years, each recipient will receive HK$13,600 (about US$1,740) annually for travel expenses linked to conferences and research.
• There is no application cost for the (HKPFS) from the RGC. Universities might, however, impose application or other administrative costs.
Note: In the academic year 2023–2024, 300 PhD Fellowships will be given out. The selected universities may offer extra assistance to recipients who require more than three years to finish the PhD program. Please get in touch with the relevant universities directly for more information.
Qualifications for the PhD Fellowship Program in Hong Kong

• All nations worldwide are eligible; English is the required language.
• Anyone looking to enroll as a new full-time PhD student at a Hong Kong university supported by the UGC should be able to apply, regardless of their national origin, previous employment history, or ethnic background.
• Candidates should exhibit exceptional academic performance, research aptitude or potential, interpersonal and communication skills, and leadership traits.
