Details of the Afrika Kommt Fellowship:
AFRIKA KOMMT! gives young professionals the tools, exposure, and motivation they need to become the next wave of African leaders over the course of a year-long fellowship. The program is divided into three distinct stages.
Participating in AFRIKA KOMMT! will help you:
- Develop your management and leadership skills;
- Gain access to networks and career-accelerating opportunities;
- Boost your intercultural competency;
- Extend your viewpoint and encourage creativity;
- Achieve personal development
Qualifications for the 2025 Afrika Kommt Fellowship:
You must be a citizen of an African state, hold a university degree in a relevant field, and have postgraduate training (such as an MBA) in order to be eligible for the Afrika Kommt Fellowship.
Strong English proficiency and a foundational understanding of German are advantages, as is two to five years of relevant job experience.

The Afrika Kommt Fellowship offers the following benefits:
A one-year German visa; round-trip airfare from your hometown to Germany and return;
- €900 per month for living expenses (months 1-3, month 12)
- A monthly compensation of around €1,500 gross throughout the internship in the companies
- Accommodations for all program phases in Germany (including internet allowance, power, water, and other taxes);
- One-time relocation fee of €1,000 to help you return to your home country;
- Health insurance for months one through twelve;
- Liability and accident insurance
Two certificates will be awarded to you: one from the Academy for International Cooperation of GIZ GmbH for successfully completing the professional training in the “International Competence Development Journal” and another from the Academy for International Cooperation upon successful completion of the program, which includes a thorough description of the training’s specific components and contents.
How to Apply (Step by Step) for the 2025 Afrika Kommt Fellowship:

• STEP 1: Verify your eligibility for the program by looking over the general applicant requirements.
• STEP 2: Examine the required profiles and fellowship positions for the upcoming intake of AFRIKA KOMMT! Placements for the fellowship will only be offered during the application process. Although you are required to choose no more than two profiles on the application form and provide justification for your selection, your application will be taken into consideration for the entire AFRIKA KOMMT! program.
- STEP 3: Register and complete the English-language application. Applications submitted in other languages won’t be taken into account.
- You will be required to submit a brief presentation outlining your motivation, a change initiative concept, a photo, and your certifications in addition to completing the application form.
- STEP 4: Send in your application by the deadline (to be determined); applications received after this time will not be taken into consideration.
