In 2000, Orascom Construction started the Onsi Sawiris Program to allocate corporate funds to educational initiatives aimed at enhancing the areas where it works. This program serves as an illustration of how the corporate sector might supportably participate in educational initiatives in Egypt. Its goal is to support young Egyptians’ intellectual and character development by providing them with the means to progress in their careers and, in turn, benefit their communities.
Preference is given to candidates who have not spent a significant amount of time living, studying, or working abroad. The Onsi Sawiris Scholarship Program is available exclusively for studies at the University of Chicago, Stanford University, Harvard University, and the University of Pennsylvania.

The Onsi Sawiris Scholarship Program requires that you:
Regarding Undergraduates:
• Be inhabitants of Egypt and citizens of Egypt (applicants with dual nationality will not be given preference).
• Have plans to begin their studies in the United States of America in 2025.
• Have a two-year commitment to return to Egypt immediately following the successful completion of their bachelor’s degree.
• Have not spent more than three years living overseas.
• iBT TOEFL score of 100 or higher
• A GPA of 3.5 out of 90% in secondary school Thanaweyya Amma certification or its equivalent
- Old SAT score (before to May 2017): Total: 2100
• Minimum SAT I score: 700 words 700 in math Composing: 700
• After May 2017, the new SAT: Total: 1450 Reading and Writing Based on Evidence: 730 SAT II in three subjects: 600 or higher; math: 730.
• Have some Extracurricular Activities.Regarding Masters:
• Be inhabitants of Egypt and citizens of Egypt (those without dual nationality will be given precedence).
• They intend to pursue a master’s degree in engineering or business administration at one of the best colleges in the US.
• Have not spent more than three years living overseas. - Have a two-year commitment to return to Egypt immediately following the completion of their bachelor’s degree.
• iBT = 100 or higher on the TOEFL
• GPA (overall grade): 3.5, or Very Good or above
• Three years or more of job experience.
• GMAT score of 650 or above for an MBA (taken within 5 years)
• Extracurricular pursuits Participate in extracurricular activities, either now or in the past.
• Previous GRE scores are no longer valid.
• The minimum allowable score on the new GRE
• Total: 302
• Writing Analytically: 4.5

Important information:
Candidates will be given consideration if they have an Egyptian Master’s degree in a technical discipline unrelated to their application.
• Applicants with a Master’s degree in the same discipline from an Egyptian institution or one from a foreign university will not be taken into consideration.
• University admittance is not assured by being chosen as a nominee for the Onsi Sawiris Scholarship Program. Candidates will only be encouraged to apply to the universities listed below. After being accepted to the university, the Onsi Sawiris Scholarship Program grant will be given out if the candidate is nominated.
Candidates who haven’t lived, worked, or studied overseas for a considerable amount of time will be given preference. The Onsi Sawiris Scholarship Program is only awarded to universities on the list of approved institutions.
