International students can apply for fully funded scholarships from the Honjo International Scholarship Foundation for the 2025–2026 academic year. This fellowship is available to PhD and master’s students. The Honjo Scholarship covers travel fees, lodging costs, and a monthly stipend for attending a global conference.

The following advantages are offered to the winner of an Honjo International Scholarship Foundation scholarship:
• ¥200,000 a month for a year or two.
For three years, the monthly rate is ¥180,000.
• Four or five years at a monthly rate of ¥150,000.

Qualifications for Scholarships from the Honjo International Scholarship Foundation
Applicants must fulfill the following requirements in order to be considered for Honjo International Scholarship Foundation Scholarships:
• All nations worldwide are eligible; English and Japanese are the required languages. Japanese citizenship is not held by the student.
• A student enrolled in a professional graduate program is, in theory, ineligible to apply. Nonetheless, students are welcome to apply if they are able to submit a research plan.
•The applicant for the PhD program must begin the course by the age of 35 in order to be eligible. When applying for a master’s program, the student must begin the course by the age of 30 (No exception).
After graduation, the student should be determined to serve in his or her native nation. This does not imply that he or she will return home right away after graduating from college or that employment is already assured.
• In addition to attending the foundation’s activities and participating in the network as an alumni member, the student must possess a profound awareness of international friendship and kindness.
• The learner needs to be able to carry on a normal Japanese conversation. Japanese will be used during the interviews. (Without exception)

How Can I Apply for Awards from the Honjo International Scholarship Foundation?
To be eligible for the Foreign Students Scholarship, please take the following crucial actions:
First, type “web application system.” Complete the application and send in the necessary files listed below.
• A transcript of your undergraduate studies from the university where you received your degree, together with any additional courses you have taken or are enrolled in. The transcript from your prior school is required if you transferred to the university. Every applicant is required to submit at least their undergraduate course transcript. Photocopies are allowed.
A three-page personal information form, a CV, and a scholarship application form; be sure to include your photo on the application form. Download the aforementioned forms from the website. Type or handwrite them in Japanese to complete them.
• A research plan in Japanese or English that centers on the following four points: i) a summary of your study; ii) a timetable for when you anticipate graduating; iii) future plans and objectives; iv) any prior research you have done. Two to four pages are ideal. It might be handwritten or typewritten.

One letter of recommendation from a supervisor in academia. (This private letter should highlight the applicant’s character/personality, academic accomplishments, and future prospects.) A letter of admission or a certificate of enrollment.On the bottom of the application form, note the date of the examination or the result announcement if the entrance exam has not yet taken place or if the successful applicants have not been declared before you apply for this scholarship. Please present a certificate of current enrollment if you are already enrolled in graduate school. (You can use photocopies.)
