Leading global efforts to end hunger is the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), a specialized agency of the United Nations. The organization’s mission is to ensure that everyone has regular access to enough nutritious food to live active, healthy lives and to attain food security for all.
For the school year 2025–2026, the following Master of Science degree programs are available in English:
- Master of Aquaculture, Szent István Campus, Gödöllő, Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences
- Master of Animal Husbandry Engineering, University of Debrecen, Faculty of Environmental Management and Agricultural and Food Sciences, Debrecen
Qualifications for the FAO Hungarian Government Scholarship in 2025:
Applicants must fulfill the following criteria in order to be accepted for the FAO Hungarian Government Scholarship:
• Residency and citizenship in one of the qualifying nations
• Outstanding academic performance
• Proficiency in English (for English-taught courses)

The following paperwork must be submitted by applicants in order to be considered for the FAO–Hungarian Government Scholarship:

• A recent curriculum vitae;
• A copy of a certificate of English proficiency;
• A copy of a high school or college transcript;
• A copy of the pertinent pages of a passport that include the passport number and expiration date;
• A letter of recommendation;
• A motivational statement;
• A health certificate from a medical professional;
• A certificate of good conduct from the local police authority.
How to Apply for FAO Hungarian Government Scholarship 2025 (Step by Step)
To apply for the FAO Hungarian Government Scholarship, interested and qualified candidates should use the “CLICK HERE TO APPLY” button to proceed to the application page.
Phase 1: FAO will pre-screen candidates and submit applications to the Ministry of Agriculture of Hungary that will send them to the corresponding University as chosen by the applicants. Students must submit only COMPLETE dossiers. Incomplete dossiers will not be considered. Files without names will not be processed.
Phase 2: As part of the admissions process, chosen applicants could be required to take an oral or written English test. Each of the selected candidates will be notified by the participating university after a subsequent selection procedure. Universities alone will choose the students; FAO will not be involved in this process. The Ministry will also notify the chosen pupils.
