Information about the PASET Regional Scholarship and Innovation Fund (Rsif):
Closing the skills gap in applied sciences, engineering, and technology (ASET) required for socio-economic transformation in sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) is the goal of the Partnership for Skills in Applied Sciences, Engineering, and Technology (PASET), an African-led project.
The main initiative of PASET is the Regional Scholarship and Innovation Fund (Rsif). For the benefit of the entire region, Rsif assists PhD candidates, post-doctoral scientists, and universities in SSA in creating top-notch training, research, and innovation environments as well as building institutional capacity.
- Risf is supported by African nations, the World Bank and the Government of Korea. It is controlled by the International Centre of Insect Physiology and Ecology (icipe) in Nairobi, Kenya, as the Rsif Regional Coordinating Unit (RCU).
Qualifications for the 2025 PASET Regional Scholarship and Innovation Fund (Rsif)
You must do the following to be eligible for the PASET Regional Scholarship and Innovation Fund (Rsif):
Be a citizen of any nation in sub-Saharan Africa and hold a master’s degree in a relevant subject of study from the Rsif.
- Fulfill the particular admission requirements set forth by the PhD program’s host university, Rsif AHU.
- At the time of application, be at least 35 years old.
- In the academic year 2024–2025, be prepared to enroll full-time in a PhD program at a Rsif AHU.
- When applying for the Rsif PhD scholarship, one should not be in possession of another PhD scholarship.
- Be prepared to participate in a “sandwich” training program for six to twelve months at a private enterprise, research institute, or overseas partner university.
- Be open to working on a research project that supports and advances regional or national development in Africa.
- Women and young academic staff members without PhDs will be given preference for the fellowships.
