Canada’s 2025 University of Ottawa Undergraduate Scholarships | How to Apply
The University of Ottawa Undergraduate grant is a renewable average-based grant for English-speaking students from Bangladesh, Indonesia, Vietnam, China, South Korea, India, and Africa.
International students who are citizens of African nations and who are accepted into one of the designated undergraduate programs in the faculties of engineering, science, or social sciences in the Fall 2024 term (starting in September) or later with an admission average of 80% or higher are eligible to apply for this renewable scholarship.
Depending on the program each year, this substantial financial investment in their education lowers their tuition costs by $17,500 to $25,000 for the excellence scholarships and by $12,000 to $20,000 for the entrance scholarships.

One of Canada’s most substantial undergraduate scholarship programs is offered by the University of Ottawa. It honors both your pre-university academic performance and your progress during each term of full-time university education. Through the new scholarship, African students learning English will be able to enroll in a number of pilot programs across three faculties at a much lower tuition rate.
The top applicants with an admission average of 90% or above who apply by March 1, 2024, and whose admission has been processed by April 15, 2024, are given excellence scholarships through a competitive process.
Candidates will be given preference if the University of Ottawa is their first choice. In September, recipients are required to begin their program. Each faculty will give out the equal amount of scholarships in an effort to promote diversity as much as possible.
University of Ottawa Entrance Scholarship Requirements:
All qualified students will be informed at the time of admission if they are selected for the University of Ottawa Entrance and Excellence Scholarship.
This scholarship does not require an application, but before receiving their first installments, beneficiaries will be asked to provide documentation of their citizenship in an African nation or region.
The candidate must:
- be enrolled full-time;
- be a citizen of one of the following countries: Bangladesh, Indonesia, Vietnam, India, or Africa;
- be an international student with a valid study permit; and
- have an admission average of 89.99% or less once converted to our grading scale in order to be eligible for the entrance scholarship.
- To qualify for the Excellence scholarship, you must have a minimum entrance average of 90% after converting it to our grading system.
- be recently accepted into one of the undergraduate programs listed below, which are available in English or with the option of French immersion:
- Engineering: Chemical and civil engineering.
- Social sciences: Public administration, international development and globalization, anthropology, sociology, and conflict studies.
- Science: All programs, with the exception of the Honors Bachelor of Science in Ophthalmic Medical Technology, Honors Bachelor of Science in Physics, and Honors Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry/BASc in Chemical Engineering.
The University of Ottawa Undergraduate Scholarship’s duration and advantages
The admission and excellence scholarship will provide incoming students with a four-year stipend of up to $100,000 to help cover some of their tuition expenses.
Every sum is expressed in Canadian dollars. Up to 12 terms of renewal are possible for these scholarships.

Following receipt of the application, the university would assign a Student Number, which the prospective student would use to access UOZone, the school’s portal, and submit their documents and results for evaluation. If the review was successful, they would receive a conditional admission offer that would include a scholarship based on their average.
