After receiving a NASA Astronaut Scholarship, a young college graduate is poised to fulfill their ambition of space flight.
American college graduate Kathleen Bostick has been awarded the coveted astronauts scholarship by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).
After graduating from Spelman College in the United States, Kathleen Bostick received a STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) prize for creating a highly functional mission to Mars.
Following her presentation of her plans at NASA’s Langley Research Center, she was awarded the scholarship. The third Black woman to journey to space, Joan Higginbotham, a retired and well-known astronaut, gave the presentation.

According to Kathleen, her fascination with space dates back to her high school years. “We know how to solve problems in a way that no one else does, so we are not just as capable as everyone else, but we are even more than that,” Kathleen stated.
And that, in my opinion, is the real secret to taking us to Mars, wherever with new innovations, and to the future in general, she continued. At the event, renowned astronaut Joan Higginbotham also urged children to always aim for their objectives.
“I always say, ‘Have faith in yourself and your abilities,’ to students or even adults who want to go into areas where there aren’t many people who look like us or who haven’t chartered those paths,” Higginbotham said.
She went on, “Always have confidence in what you’re saying and use your voice as a conduit to speak the truth.”

As the second-ever female recipient of this esteemed honor at Spelman College, Kathleen also created history.
Since Higginbotham has always been her greatest inspiration, Kathleen stated that she aspires to follow in her footsteps. She went on to say that she will use her accomplishments to help the future generation of STEM leaders by showing other Black girls that anything is possible.
