A talented Nigerian lawyer makes family proud by earning a PhD at a UK university.
Tioluwani Comfort, a talented Nigerian lawyer, graduated from the University of Essex in the United Kingdom with a Doctor of Philosophy.
In the United Kingdom, Tioluwani is a prominent lawyer and lecturer at the University of Essex. She graduated from the University of Abuja with a bachelor’s degree in law (LL.B.) before going on to Bangor University in Wales to obtain her master’s degree in law.
She received numerous honors as the top graduating student and graduated with honors from Bangor University. Tioluwani joined her mother and sister, who are also Nigerian lawyers, after achieving the goal of becoming a lawyer.
Tioluwani claimed that the ongoing academic strike was the reason she moved to the UK for her postgraduate studies. Prior to her transfer, she worked as a lawyer for several Nigerian firms.
“I never thought I’d earn an LLM in law with honors, much less be named the top student in the field.” Since no one on earth gets anything unless it is given to him from above, I would attribute my achievement to God, even if I am a very diligent student, she stated.
Tioluwani claimed that playing the part of a lawyer in a play in elementary school served as the impetus for her decision to pursue a legal education. She also mentioned that her decision was influenced by her mother, a lawyer.
“I would say that being asked to play a lawyer in elementary school was the true reason I decided to study law.” Our actions were inspired by the novel “The Incorruptible Judge.” I liked playing a lawyer,” she remembered.

She posted a video of herself crossing the stage to get her certificate on Facebook to commemorate receiving a Doctor of Philosophy in Law with a focus on Private and Business Law. According to Tioluwani, all of her achievements and breakthroughs are evidence of God’s mercy.
During her studies, she held the position of Graduate Students Representative in addition to becoming a lecturer at the university.
Tioluwani thanked her family for being her pillar of support, a continual source of courage and faith despite the emergence of doubt. She also expressed her gratitude to them for their steadfast support.
Because of my academic accomplishments and my advocacy for diversity and inclusion in the legal profession, I was recognized with the Canadian Black History Trail Blazer Award. Breaking down barriers is what it means to be a Trail Blazer, she continued.
In addition to her accomplishment, the Canadian government presented the Esquire with the Black History Trailblazer Award. According to her, the honor serves as a reminder that brilliance has no boundaries and that our heritage is a source of pride and strength.
Tioluwani stated that she will prioritize her own objectives, be loyal to herself, and surround herself with others who foster and promote personal development in the future
