A remarkable young guy who broke down boundaries is poised to enroll in the University of Waterloo Canada to pursue a master’s degree. “Started University at 14 and graduated with First Class at 18.”
Despite enrolling in the program at the age of 14, an extraordinary 18-year-old Nigerian graduate has established an incredible record by earning a first-class degree in computer science.
Despite being admitted to the university at a relatively young age, the young man, who goes by Joseph A. on Linkedin, described how he managed to acquire a first class in computer science.
Because of its wide range of applications in both academic and industrial settings, computer science is one of the most popular and sought-after fields of study worldwide.
Computer science, according to Wikipedia, is the study of information, automation, and computation. Computer science encompasses both theoretical fields like information theory, computation theory, and algorithms as well as practical fields like hardware and software design and implementation.
According to Joseph, a graduate of Bowen University in South West Nigeria, he had to develop the maturity and tenacity necessary to navigate life’s journey.
“Life is in phases, and men are in sizes,” he remarked. “Therefore, since life came to me in phases, I had to develop the maturity and tenacity necessary to navigate the journey of life.” I want to talk about my four years as an undergraduate after graduating one month ago at the age of eighteen with first class honors.

His story reads: “I got admission into Bowen University Iwo in 2017 at 14, making me one of the youngest in the matriculating class of 2017. As a young chap, I had to learn how to be smart while in University because I didn’t want to be exploited by others because of my age. After year one, I grew in every aspect of my life and I started setting out more goals for myself and was very intentional about my growth. Attaining these goals was never easy as I was faced with challenges and fears, but with hard work, luck and a good circle of individuals, I survived. “In April 2018, I won the Inter-Level Coding Exhibition organized by the National Association of Computer Science Students’ Bowen Chapter. In June 2019, I was awarded as the 200 Level Programmer of the year by the National Association of Computer Science Students’ Bowen Chapter.
“I was chosen to serve as the National Association of Computer Science Students’ Bowen Chapter’s Software Director II in September 2019.” In order to represent Nigeria in the African/Arab Rounds in Egypt, my team and I won the Nigerian Collegiate Programming Contest in Abuja in September 2019.
“I was the primary application developer for the Glade Mobile Application during my six months of employment with Glade in May 2020 as a Mobile Application Engineer. I was chosen to serve as the National Association of Computer Science Students’ Bowen Chapter’s Software Director I in September 2020.
“I began working with brilliant minds at Klasha in December 2020 as a Mobile Application Engineer, where I am currently employed. I completed my undergraduate final exams and defended my project thesis, “DEVELOPMENT OF A SMART CAR PARKING RESERVATION SYSTEM,” which used sound to transfer data, in August 2021.
At the age of 18, I earned a First Class Honours degree in Computer Science & Information Technology in November 2021, placing fourth in both my department and college. I graduated with a 4.62 CGPA after beginning with a 3.9 GPA.
