A remarkable Nigerian woman receives two master’s degrees in mathematics from a US university, marking a remarkable accomplishment.
After obtaining a second Master’s degree in mathematics, Fatima Abdulwaheed Akinola, a remarkable math prodigy from Nigeria who broke a 42-year-old record to acquire her undergraduate degree, has accomplished yet another remarkable feat.
In the 42-year history of Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Fatima A. Akinola became the first female graduate to get a first-class degree in mathematics. She went on to receive a flawless 4.0/4.0 mark at Marshall University in the United States, where she earned a Master of Arts degree in Mathematics.
Fatima said that being accepted as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at the University of Florida shortly after receiving her Master of Arts in Mathematics fulfilled her ambition to succeed academically.
“And so it starts! I had a purpose when I arrived in the US two years ago! Continue learning as much as I can. began with a master’s degree and did a fantastic job! I start the next phase of my academic adventure today! The math whiz posted on LinkedIn, “I can only hope that it goes great as well.”

Following a remarkable academic journey in the United States, Fatima announced that she has obtained her second master’s degree in mathematics just one year after enrolling at the University of Florida.
“Master of Mathematics and Science! I am pleased to announce that I have finished my second master’s degree at the University of Florida! Together with my initial master’s degree in mathematics, this would indicate that I had firmly grasped the “Arts and Science” of mathematics! “Cheers,” she said.
Fatima is now scheduled to graduate in 2026 with a PhD in mathematics from the University of Florida in the United States.
She has often stated that everytime she accomplishes remarkable achievements that are recognized globally, she is delighted to make Nigeria proud.
Fatima noted that mathematics was a natural fit for her after earning her first master’s degree.
“I get asked, ‘How did you do it?’ by some individuals. Since everything happened so effortlessly, I honestly don’t know what to say. I honestly didn’t do anything, so I can’t say that this is what I did, that I read all day, or that I did this or that,” she added.
She wants to encourage the next generation to pursue their aspirations of becoming extraordinarily successful in life.
