A remarkable 5-year-old boy’s drumming abilities earn him a full-ride scholarship to the university.
Because of his incredible drumming abilities, a 5-year-old child called Jeremiah Travis has been awarded a full scholarship to study at Alcorn State University.
When Jeremiah Travis, a talented drummer, graduates from high school in 13 years, he will have received a full band scholarship to study at Alcorn State University.
At St. Helena College and Career Academy in Louisiana, Jeremiah, who is still in kindergarten, plays loop drums in the band. He began thumping on his ABC blocks as a newborn and developed a natural affinity for drumming, according to USA Today.
He now has the opportunity to perform with band members who are at least ten years his senior. Jeremiah frequently showed off during halftime shows and New Orleans Pelicans basketball games.
He was given the scholarship so that when he grows up, he can play in the Sounds of the Dyn-o-Mite band at Alcorn State University in the United States. Nicole Jackson, Travis’ mother, expressed her pride in her son’s accomplishments despite his youth.

I was thrilled to learn that he is five years old and has a full scholarship. Given how young he is, I am simply in awe of his playing ability,” Jackson remarked.
The band director at St. Helena College and Career Academy, Chesterton Frye said that Travis’ skills are impressive but his work ethic is what stands out the most.

Even though he is only five years old, he is constantly improving his abilities. He drums on the floor during any downtime in the band room or during our breaks, inviting other drummers to join him and simply asking, “Can we play, can we play?” Frye remarked.
Travis’ school’s percussion teacher, Brandon Dorsey, stated that although he is always willing to do anything, he does not pressure him to do anything and is always forgiving.
He is simply engrossed. Sometimes, I believe he might not be able to play a part, therefore I don’t educate him. Dorsey remarked, “Then we start playing a cadence, and he just starts playing it, and I’m amazed.”
Since he is just five, I don’t make him do anything. I have to remind myself sometimes that he is still very young. “What he has is a gift from God,” he continued.
