A bright Nigerian woman receives a Mastercard scholarship to a UK institution and graduates as a double first-class lawyer.
AFRICA | Sandra Ozioma Marume, a bright Nigerian woman, has accomplished a unique academic achievement by graduating with double first-class honors in law and been awarded the coveted Mastercard Foundation Scholarship to study in the UK.
Sandra started her academic career at Afe Babalola University in Ado-Ekiti, Nigeria, where she graduated with a first-class honors Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.).
She attended the Nigerian Law School after completing her undergraduate studies, where she completed the demanding one-year program needed to become a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria.
Sandra achieved the uncommon double first-class as a lawyer by gaining another first-class grade in spite of the rigorous academic and practical expectations.
Sandra shared her accomplishment on LinkedIn, stating that she managed to do so in spite of the severe visual impairment that comes with albinism.
She has already gained recognition among international scholars for her tenacity, willpower, and unrelenting dedication to brilliance after being awarded the coveted Mastercard Foundation Scholarship to pursue a master’s degree at The University of Edinburgh in the United Kingdom.

The MasterCard grant from the University of Edinburgh is a one-year postgraduate on-campus grant that covers fully approved tuition, living expenses, travel, and study supplies, including a laptop.

She also thanked the Mastercard Foundation for choosing her from among more than 4,000 candidates and her mentors for their unwavering support and direction.
Looking back on her path, Sandra revealed that she persisted in her resolve in the face of every obstacle.
Over the last twenty-five years, I’ve come to realize that no matter what obstacles arise, the mind can do anything it can imagine. You’ll be shocked at how quickly you can achieve those goals if you set them,” she remarked.
