A bright Nigerian woman obtains a master’s degree in computer science and a full scholarship to Stanford University in the United States.

Modupe Akintan, a talented Nigerian woman, was awarded a full scholarship at Stanford University in the United States to pursue a master’s degree in computer science.

Before relocating to the United States for her postgraduate studies, Modupe earned a spectacular first-class grade in her bachelor’s degree in computer engineering from Afe Babalola University Ado-Ekiti, Nigeria.

Due to her exceptional undergraduate performance, she was awarded a fully financed scholarship by Standford University to pursue a master’s degree. With a focus on computer and network security, Modupe obtained a master’s degree in computer science.

Sharing her accomplishment on Linkedin, Modupe noted that achieving success was a difficult but wonderful road because there were moments when it looked unachievable.

Modupe claimed that her friends’ and family’s encouragement gave her more confidence even though she felt like a fraud after being given the chance. She expressed gratitude for their presence in her life, saying it gave her confidence in her skills and abilities.

She said that the accomplishment makes her very proud because the academic path was one of development and life-changing events. Modupe continued by listing all of her experiences and adventures while attending the university.

She mentioned that she had the privilege to work on groundbreaking research at the Stanford Empirical Security Research Group (ESRG) as a member of the MSCS pathway program.

Modupe said she also joined the privacy engineering team at Apple and contributed to projects that had a visible impact on the Apple ecosystem, started learning to play the piano and the process taught her the value of persistence and patience.

She stated that she also served as the Graduate Chairman of the Women in Computer Science which was aimed to build a strong community among female and nonbinary graduate students at Stanford University.

Modupe claimed to have been fortunate to be awarded a Stanford scholarship that covered all of her fees so she could attend the Afrotech Conference twice, giving her access to incredible events and networking possibilities.

She claimed that having several hobbies is OK and that this was the most important thing she took away from her time at university. She went on to say that witnessing other people effectively pursue several degrees and a variety of interests encouraged her to accept her complex path.

In addition to thanking everyone who has helped her along the road, Modupe said she is eager to see where the adventure will lead her next as she keeps exploring and changing the world.
