Ikenna Emmanuel Ikechukwu, a remarkable 14-year-old child, defeated over 40,000 competitors from all around Nigeria to win the 2024 MTN mPulse Spelling Bee.

During the competition’s last round, Ikenna, a student at Glorious Covenant School in Rivers State, Nigeria, enthralled the judges and crowd with his outstanding performance.

He won the title of 2024 mPulse Spelling Bee Champion by successfully spelling the word “Cornucopia” in just six seconds.

A ₦5 million scholarship, a laptop, a smartphone, a mPulse goody bag, and the exceptional chance to be the CEO of MTN for a day are just a few of the amazing incentives that come with his exceptional accomplishment.

“A special thanks to MTN for this amazing platform that helps students learn, play, and shine,” Ikenna added in his expression of gratitude. This opportunity has genuinely changed my life.

Twenty finalists made it to the physical grand finale of the 2024 competition, which started with over 40,000 entries. Ikenna’s victory demonstrated his skill and tenacity in the face of fierce opposition.

Ikenna’s school, Glorious Covenant School, received an ICT lab with ten computers and MTN 5G routers as a thank you for his accomplishments. His teacher was also given ₦500,000 in cash for helping to coach the young champion.v

Significant awards, including as computers, smartphones, and scholarships, were also given to the runners-up, Ayomide Ibigbemi in second place and Munachimso Opara in third.
