AFRICA | At Sharda University in India, a bright Nigerian guy named Shuaib Ibrahim has overcome all obstacles to attain extraordinary academic excellence.

Twelve years ago, Ibrahim was turned down for entrance to a Nigerian institution, but he persisted and eventually earned a PhD, a master’s degree, and a bachelor’s degree with honors.

Ibrahim’s path is made even more remarkable by the fact that he was given a partial scholarship in appreciation of his academic achievement, which allowed him to complete both his graduate and doctoral degrees.

His relative Mallam Mohammed Shuaib highlighted his academic achievement on X (previously Twitter), detailing his remarkable path from bachelor’s to doctorate in India.

Mohammed described how, while residing in India, he first learned about Sharda University from a newspaper ad. He asked the Nigerian High Commission in Delhi about the university out of curiosity, and they confirmed that Nigerian students are welcome there.

We were unable to get him admitted to a Nigerian university in 2013. I saw the Sharada University advertisement in a newspaper while I was in India that year. “It is among India’s largest private universities,” he stated.

In order to learn whether Sharda accepts Nigerian students, he continued by speaking with a representative of the Nigerian High Commission in Delhi. Thankfully, Ibrahim met all the requirements and was admitted when it was validated.
