The Mastercard TAGDev Scholarship is being offered by the Regional Universities Forum for Capacity Building in Agriculture (RUFORUM), in collaboration with the Mastercard Foundation and a number of other African universities.
By equipping and empowering Africa’s youth and their institutions to lead the inclusive, equitable, and climate-resilient transformation of agriculture and agrifood systems, the Transforming African Agricultural Universities to Meaningfully Contribute to Africa’s Growth and Development (TAGDev 2.0) program aims to fortify universities and TVET institutions to better serve communities.

Young African students who are academically capable but economically underprivileged will receive support from the initiative to finish their education.
Qualifications for the 2024 Mastercard TAGDev Scholarship
You must be a citizen of Uganda or one of the East African nations that are parties to the common East Africa Higher Education Protocol (Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, and South Sudan) in order to be eligible for the Mastercard TAGDev Scholarship 2024.
- Be from marginalized populations, have a low income, or originate from Uganda’s war-torn or post-conflict regions.
- At the time of this call, be under 30 years old for undergraduate studies and under 35 years old for master’s studies.
- Must have finished secondary school and/or earned a diploma in order to apply for a bachelor’s degree within two years of this call. Internally displaced people and refugees should have finished their previous level of education no more than four years prior.
- The candidate must fulfill the requirements for admission to Gulu University’s qualifying programs.
- Show an interest in entrepreneurship, agribusiness, and agriculture vii. Exhibit leadership abilities.
- Be dedicated to a career in agriculture and its value chains.
