AMERICA | A 59-year-old grandma completes 1575 pushups in 60 minutes, breaking the world record.
By performing 1,575 pushups in 60 minutes, Canadian grandmother DonnaJean Wilde, 59, achieved a new Guinness World Record and won the female category’s record for the most pushups in an hour.
This incredible accomplishment comes only eight months after Wilde set a new world record for the longest plank a woman could hold in March 2024, with a time of an astounding 4 hours, 30 minutes, and 11 seconds.

Wilde attributes her most recent triumph to the intense preparation she underwent to achieve her planking record. She fell in love with pushups during her preparation and started doing 500 a day.
Wilde came in with “abs and arms of steel” and a strong mentality for her second attempt at setting a record. She was amazed by her own endurance after breaking the previous pushup record with 17 minutes remaining.
“I had to suppress my joyous tears and feelings and press on. I was still feeling really powerful, and I wanted to do a lot of push-ups in the next seventeen minutes,” she remarked.
Throughout the hour, eleven of Wilde’s twelve grandkids supported her by helping her count her sets and giving her words of encouragement. The endeavor to break the record wasn’t without its difficulties.
Every pushup needed a full arm extension at the top and a 90-degree elbow flex at the bottom. Wilde’s shoulder dislocated once, but it quickly snapped back into position so she could continue.
With 620 pushups in the first 20 minutes, Wilde got the hour off to a great start. Over the following fifteen minutes, she switched between sets of twenty and five pushups until settling into an average of ten pushups per set until the allotted time had passed.
As she considered her accomplishment, Wilde underlined how crucial it is to be fit at any age. “I think we can age gracefully and powerfully if we have health and wellness goals and stay active,” she remarked.
