After failing math in high school, a young man eventually receives first-class math grades and graduates with an exceptional 4.63/5.00 CGPA.

At the University of Ilorin, Nigeria, a young man named Oboni David, who had difficulty with mathematics in high school, graduated with an exceptional 4.63/5.00 grade point and a first-class degree in mathematics.

At the University of Ilorin, David earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics with first-class honors and a 4.63 GPA. He claimed that he developed a deep distaste for mathematics since he was raised among people who were afraid of it.

However, he noted that he excelled in all subjects but mathematics. But with the support of his math teachers, who taught him in a rigorous yet loving manner, his fear of the subject vanished.

David claimed that he became interested in mathematics and started to comprehend some fundamental equations as a result of his teacher’s rigorous methods. “DAVID, YOU ARE SMART, SO WHY DON’T YOU KNOW MATH?” he asked me one day. FOR EVERY QUESTION YOU FAIL, I WILL GIVE YOU TWO STROKES OF THE CANE,” along with a stack of 50+ assignments,” David said.

”Immediately, I developed a keen interest in getting the answers right because he meant what he said. It was no simple work, but eventually, I began to learn some basic concepts,” he added.

David said his interest in math grew even more when his teacher paired him with the two best students in class which served as a challenge for him to work harder so as to meet up with them.

He said he wrote WAEC and passed the mathematics average after which he proceeded to enroll in an A’Level (IJMB) program in which math was one of my subject combinations. Despite having a challenge with mathematics again, David said he got closer with his maths teacher at the program who motivated and encouraged him.

I read math every day, studied nonstop, and always had that enormous textbook with me. For the first time in my life, I received an A in mathematics on the midterm exam. I couldn’t believe it, so it was a time of pure bliss. I was inspired to study even more for the final exam because of this,” he stated.

David claimed that his drive gave him the bravery to instruct his peers, which was a thrilling experience for him. I was able to instruct well since I knew what it was like to struggle with math. I had experienced the hardship myself, so I knew it. My passion in teaching started to grow at this point,” he remarked.

He added that after passing the A-level program, he had another difficulty with the university entrance exam, which he failed twice before passing on his third try, gaining him admittance to the university to study mathematics.

David claimed that due of his father’s financial situation, he nearly gave up on going to college, but he was able to keep going thanks to his uncle, who paid for his tuition. He finished his first year with a 4.49 grade point, despite not taking getting a first-class degree seriously.

He explained that in order to support himself financially, he chose to launch a tutoring company called “MATHS SOLUTION TUTORIAL CENTRE (MSTC),” where he considered a student’s straightforward strategy for achieving a high math grade.

To God’s glory, the business expanded after I assisted students in earning A grades in their math-related courses. Everyone on campus offering math-related courses knows about us. We are known for our simple approach to teaching math, and we’ve recorded over 100 A grades over the years.,” he said.

He stated that juggling studies with business was very challenging but he was able to persevere through one of his students, Mr. Adebayo Oyewole Idowu who motivated him to continue to pursue attaining a first-class degree.

David credited his uncle, Pastor Oboni Johnson, with helping him succeed, saying he constantly inspired him to pursue a top-notch degree. Additionally, he expressed gratitude to his parents and siblings for their steadfast support.

He advised other pupils that they can accomplish anything they set their minds to, and that they should never give up on their aspirations because they will undoubtedly come true. David declared that he is optimistically prepared for the next phase of his life.
