After studying in the US and the UK for 14 years in a row, a brilliant Nigerian doctor receives a PhD in medicine.
After studying in the United States and the United Kingdom for 14 years in a row, Chidiebere Akusobi, a talented Nigerian physician, earned a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in medicine and became a Doctor of Medicine (MD).
Chiediere’s path to becoming a superb clinically qualified physician began when he entered at Yale University in Connecticut, USA, to pursue a Bachelor of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology degree.
Following four years of study, Chidiebere went on to earn his Master of Philosophy in Biochemistry from the University of Cambridge in Cambridge, UK. He returned to the United States right away to start his doctoral studies at the esteemed Harvard University Medical School in Massachusetts.

He completed his eight years of studies at Harvard University Medical from 2014 to 2022, earning both a Doctor of Medicine (MD) and a PhD in medicine.
The PhD program concentrates on research to increase knowledge in any chosen topic, whereas the MD program emphasizes the use of medicine to diagnose and treat patients. This is how a PhD in medicine differs from an MD program.
On his Linkedin page, Chidiebere celebrates his accomplishment and states that he is really grateful for his success, noting that he has achieved many significant victories along the way.
