Details of the 2025 Stanford University Summer Internship:
The goal of the Stanford University Summer Internship is to foster a sense of community and produce a group of aspiring graduate engineers who can encourage diversity in experience and viewpoints among engineering and science students.
Since its establishment, SURF has served as a platform for undergraduate students to carry out scientific research and a starting point for their graduate work in engineering and science.
The 2024 SURF Fellows are already back at their home universities, but during their time there, they worked in a variety of science and engineering disciplines, contributing to ground-breaking studies that address the main issues of the twenty-first century.
Qualifications for the 2025 Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship at Stanford University
You must fulfill the following requirements in order to be eligible for the Stanford University Summer Undergraduate Research FellowshipES:
- Have at least eighteen years of age.
If the applicant is an international student enrolled full-time in a U.S. college or university and in possession of a valid F-1 Visa, they must be first generation (the first person in their family to attend college in pursuit of a bachelor’s degree).
- Be presently enrolled full-time in an accredited public or private college or university in the United States or its territories, as recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
- First-generation and/or low socioeconomic status international students enrolled full-time in public or private colleges or institutions outside of the US are also eligible to apply to Stanford.
- A GPA of 3.0 or higher indicates that you are in good academic standing.
- Exhibit a strong desire to pursue graduate work leading to a PhD in engineering. This is not the program for you if you want to pursue an advanced degree that is not focused on research, such as an MD, JD, MBA, or another degree.
- At the conclusion of the summer program, they must have finished at least two semesters or three quarters (or the equivalent) and have at least one full semester or quarter left in their undergraduate studies. Rising juniors (third years) and seniors (fourth years) are given priority.
- Students with master’s degrees are not qualified.
- Be ready to live on the Stanford campus from June 21 to August 16 for the duration of the program.
