Application Procedure for the 2025 Study in Canada Scholarship Program (SICP)
Students from post-secondary universities can receive $12,700 through the Educanada Scholarship to help with living expenses and tuition.
Supporting students with short-term exchange opportunities for undergraduate and graduate study or research in Canadian universities is the goal of the EduCanada Scholarship.
In addition to promoting their academic and research quality in the new markets, successful Canadian post-secondary institutions will have the chance to deepen and broaden their international ties.

Details of the EduCanada Study In Canada Scholarship 2025:
Canadian post-secondary institutions must:
• apply on behalf of qualified applicants;
• advertise the scholarship opportunity to their faculty, staff, and partner institutions in the eligible nations and territories;
• rank applications according to the institution’s strategic priorities;
• designate a single person in charge of application submission;
• enter into a Contribution Agreement with the Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development (DFATD) and award scholarship funds to the selected candidates; and
• submit qualitative and quantitative reports throughout the scholarship period.
Scholarship candidates Candidates interested in this scholarship program should:
- make their interest known to their home institution;
- find out if there is an existing institutional collaboration or exchange agreement between their home institution and a Canadian institution;
- request information from their home institution about the application process and selection criteria specific to the Canadian partner institution; and
- ensure they meet the eligibility requirements.
Requirements for EduCanada Scholarship 2025
Candidates must be:
- citizens of one of the following eligible countries/territories:
- Asia:Bangladesh, Nepal, Taiwan;
- Europe:Turkey, Ukraine;
- Middle East and North Africa:Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Libya, Morocco, Tunisia;
- Sub-Saharan Africa:Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, Tanzania, Uganda; and
- enrolled as a full-time student at post-secondary institution in an eligible country/territory
- be paying tuition fees to that institution at the time of application and for the full duration of the exchange.
Candidates are not eligible:
- if they hold or have a pending application for Canadian citizenship or permanent residency;
- if they are already participating in a scholarship program funded by the Government of Canada; and
- if they are already enrolled in a degree, diploma or certificate program at a Canadian post-secondary institution.
Benefits of the EduCanada Study In Canada Scholarship
Scholarship values vary depending on the duration and level of study:
CAD 10,200 for college, undergraduate or graduate students (Master’s and PhD) for a minimum of four months or one academic term of study or research; or
CAD 12,700 for graduate students (Master’s and PhD) for a period of five to six months of study or research.
In addition to the funds allocated to the recipients by DFATD, Canadian host institutions will receive CAD 500 per scholarship recipient to assist with administrative costs once the scholarship recipient arrives in Canada.

Eligible expenses
Scholarship funds should be used towards:
- visa or study/work permit fees;
- airfare for the scholarship recipient only via the most direct and economical route;
- health insurance;
- living expenses, such as accommodation, utilities and food;
- ground transportation, including a public transportation pass; and
- books and supplies required for the recipient’s study or research, excluding computers and other equipment.
EduCanada Scholarship Selection Criteria
Applications that are comprehensive and eligible will be assessed using the following standards:
- the strength of the connections to be made through the suggested exchange;
- the excellence of the research or study to be conducted in Canada;
- the benefit to the Canadian institution, supervisor, and peers;
- the benefit to the home institution and peers; and
- the rankings provided by the Canadian institution.
Note: Candidates who have never been awarded a scholarship through the Study in Canada Scholarships program will be given preference.

The Canadian institution submits all applications for the Study in Canada Scholarship on behalf of the applicants.

Guidelines for Canadian establishments
Institutions experiencing difficulties completing or submitting the form should contact scholarships-bourses@cbie.ca via email.
Canadian educational institutions are required to:
- Fill out an online application for every applicant.
o Institutions that do not currently have an account must first create one.
o The institution should click “Apply Now” after choosing the Study in Canada Scholarships program under “For Non-Canadians” after logging into their account.
o Organizations have the option to save applications and finish them later. Applications that have been saved and submitted will both show up on the institution’s profile page.
- Fill out the required fields with information and adhere to each item’s instructions.
o The candidate’s name needs to match the one on their passport.
o The national language must be used to indicate the official name of the candidate’s home institution.
- Upload all necessary files.
- Check the information before submitting.
- Press the SUBMIT button. After the form is submitted, a reference number and confirmation message will be sent to the institution.
- Use the browser’s print feature to print the form for their records.
