Atitsogbe, a remarkable 10-year-old boy who teaches science online, is among the youngest children worldwide to join Mensa, an association for persons with high IQs.

Sean, who is from Georgia, gained notoriety as “Sean The Science Kid” thanks to his films on his YouTube channel, Learning With Sean The Science Kid, which explain commonplace scientific marvels with genuine curiosity.

He posted on Instagram that one of his numerous achievements in 2024 was becoming an American Mensa member. Mensa is a global organization of bright people.

Candidates must take an authorized intelligence test and have a score at or above the 98th percentile in order to be eligible for Mensa membership. With assistance from his mother, Eunice Atitsogbe, Sean formally launched his YouTube account in 2020 at the age of six.

After that, he spread to Instagram and Facebook, where he now has more than 780,000 followers. In 2024, Sean made breakfast and discussed the science of why breakfast is the most significant meal of the day in his first widely shared Instagram video.

Since then, more than a million people have viewed his videos on social media. He told GMA that as a curious youngster, he developed a deep affinity for science.

When he grows up, he hopes to become a brain and heart surgeon because he loves the way science explains the cosmos.

Sean’s mother said that without assistance from her or his father, her son is self-taught and has decided to look up the subjects he features online or at the library.

“Neither Daddy nor I taught him the things he knows.” He is never seated to learn anything. He learns a lot on his own. Therefore, as parents, we just provide the conditions for him to do so,” Eunice remarked.

According to Eunice, she did not anticipate her son’s accounts receiving such a large amount of online attention. She exhorts other parents to have high hopes for their kids who are passionate about science or another subject.

“We paid attention to our kids because they start demonstrating these gifts at a very young age,” Eunice added, sharing her advice with other parents.

Therefore, listen to them. As soon as you realize that your child enjoys something, you, as a parent, do everything in your power to help them and bring out their best qualities and abilities,” she continued.
