Details of the Federal Bilateral Education Scholarship:
The following information explains the Federal Bilateral Education Scholarship (BEA) offered by the Ministry of Education to eligible and interested Nigerians:
Postgraduate (PG) studies are tenable in China, Hungary, Serbia, Romania, and Russia (for those whose first degrees were earned in Russia); undergraduate (UG) studies are tenable in Russia, Morocco, Hungary, Egypt, and Algeria.
Subjects of Study:
- Engineering, geology, agriculture, sciences, mathematics, environmental sciences, sports, law, social sciences, biotechnology, architecture, medicine (very limited), pilot engineering, neurology, and others at the undergraduate level
- Postgraduate level in all subjects, including master’s and doctoral degrees.
Qualifications for the 2025 FSB BEA Scholarship
To be eligible for the FSB BEA Scholarship in 2025:
Undergraduate scholarships require that all applicants for undergraduate courses have at least seven (7) distinctions (As & Bs) in the Senior Secondary School Certificates, WASSCE/WAEC (May/June) only, in subjects related to their fields of study, such as mathematics and English language. Certificates must be no older than two (2) years (2022 & 2023) for non-African countries, and one year (2023) for African countries. The age range is 17–20 years old.
POSTGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIPS:
- A first degree with first class or at least second class Upper Division is required of all applicants for postgraduate degree programs.
• The age limit is 35 for master’s degrees and 40 for doctoral degrees, and all applicants must have finished the NYSC program.
• Only certificates of N.Y.S.C. discharge or exemption are accepted.
• Proof that an employer is prepared to release a worker.

NB: The following must be submitted to the Federal Scholarship Board by candidates the Board nominates:
- Verified copies of academic credentials;
- The current international passport’s data page;
- Specific medical reports from government hospitals;
- An indigenous letter and birth certificate.
- If required, a police clearance certificate.

All applicants should be aware of the following general information:
- Since the BEA countries do not speak English, applicants must be ready to complete a required one-year foreign language course in the country of their choice, which will serve as the standard medium of instruction;
- All applicants for the Hungarian Scholarship are required to visit the website, which opened in mid-November and will close on January 15, 2024, and may apply for up to two fields of study in order of preference.
