Scholarship Coverage
The following advantages will be granted to the recipient of the Government of Brunei Darussalam Scholarship:
• For the course of the program, they will not be required to pay tuition fees, including admission, examination, registration, and orientation fees;
• An economy class ticket from the scholarship recipient’s home country to Brunei Darussalam before the course starts, and an economy class ticket from Brunei Darussalam back to the scholarship recipient’s home country after the course is over;
A BND$600.00 annual book allowance; a BND$500.00 monthly personal allowance; and a BND$150.00 monthly food allowance
• Lodging at the university or polytechnic’s residential college;
• Allowance for baggage shipment of the scholarship recipient’s personal belongings to his or her home country after the program is over, up to a maximum of BND$250.00 to a country in the ASEAN region or BND$500.00 to a country outside of the ASEAN region;
• Full insurance coverage for the duration of the scholarship. It is recommended that the scholarship applicant, at his own expense, secure supplemental insurance before departing for Brunei Darussalam and throughout the entire scholarship period.
Qualifications for the Government of Brunei Darussalam Scholarship
In order to be eligible for the Government of Brunei Darussalam Scholarship, you need to meet the following criteria:
Arabic, Malay, or English are the required languages.Countries That Qualify: Citizens of ASEAN, Commonwealth, and OIC member nations are eligible to apply; however, candidates must be between the ages of 18 and 25 for undergraduate and diploma programs and no older than 35 for postgraduate master’s degree programs on July 31, 2024.
- The award is NOT eligible to Brunei Darussalam Permanent Residents.
- This scholarship shall not be held concurrently with any other scholarship, fellowship, grant or loan without the prior approval of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
- A scholarship recipient is not encouraged to bring any family members with him for the duration of the Scholarship.
- A scholarship recipient is not permitted to undertake any paid employment or to serve on the staff of any country’s representative mission in Brunei Darussalam during the duration of the scholarship.
- Upon completion of the program, the scholarship recipient will be required to leave Brunei Darussalam with immediate effect.
How Can I Apply for a Scholarship from the Government of Brunei Darussalam?
In order to apply for the Government of Brunei Darussalam Scholarship, please complete these steps:
1. To apply, kindly complete the BDGS Application Form online at the following link.
2. Files that must be uploaded to the application:
• Verified authentic copies of academic credentials and additional corroborating records, such as transcripts, certificates, and testimonies.
• For supporting documents that are not in English, certified translations into English must be provided.
• Verified authentic copies of the passport and birth certificate.
• Referees’ references and suggestions. (C1 and C2)

5. In addition to taking a written test to gauge their level of English, Malay, or Arabic language competence, applicants may be asked to attend an interview at a location or locations chosen by the organizations providing the programs.
