- Program Period: Your Stanford home department will pay the remaining portion of your education in accordance with its regular funding commitment for that program if your degree program lasts longer than three years, such as an MD or PhD program or a Stanford dual- or joint-degree program. The Knight-Hennessy Scholars program only pays for the first three years of your graduate studies.

Scholarship Reports
The following advantages are offered to the recipient of the Knight Hennesy Scholarship:
• A travel allowance meant to pay for one annual round-trip ticket to and from Stanford in economy class.
• A living and educational stipend (which covers things like books, lodging and board, school supplies, teaching materials, local transportation, and appropriate personal expenses).
• A fellowship that was directly applied for to pay for tuition and related costs (in line with the typical departmental level of enrollment).
•The expenses that your home department at Stanford covers for its students, including lab equipment or subscriptions, are usually not covered by the Knight-Hennessy Scholars program.
Note: Knight-Hennessy Scholars may also submit applications for additional funding to help with conference travel and other scholarly pursuits.

Qualifications for the Knight Hennesy Scholarship
The following requirements must be met in order to be eligible for the Knight Hennesy Scholarship:
English is a required language, and the following nations are eligible: Applications for the Knight-Hennessy Scholars Program are accepted from all nations.
• For enrollment in 2026, a first or bachelor’s degree earned in 2019 or later is required. If you apply within four years of receiving your first or bachelor’s degree and enroll within five years of that date, you are qualified to apply.
•You must have first-step mental acuity, be open to new experiences and knowledge, be creative, be able to make sense of confusing situations, and be able to have a contrarian or opposing viewpoint.
- You must finish the whole application process, including any standardized tests required by your graduate program (such as the GMAT, GRE, LSAT, MCAT, etc.), as well as your Knight-Hennessy Scholars application and, if necessary, an English proficiency test.
- You need to be driven to better yourself, ambitious in the truest meaning of the word, and risk-taking. self-aware, persistent, and resilient in the face of difficulty. Personally, I am modest, polite, inclusive, respectful of differences, considerate of others, and low-ego.
- To study at Stanford, you must be proficient in all aspects of English, including speaking, writing, listening, and reading. The majority of Stanford’s graduate programs require a minimum TOEFL score of 100iBT or 600PBT. The TOEFL is accepted by all Stanford graduate programs, and the MBA program also takes the PTE and IELTS. More information about scores is available here.
- To begin, you must apply to, be accepted into, and enroll in a full-time graduate program at Stanford in addition to applying to Knight-Hennessy Scholars. The Knight-Hennessy Scholars must be enrolled in a Stanford graduate school, such as the DMA, JD, MA, MBA, MD, MFA, MPP, MS, or PhD programs, and they must be new students. There are no program or discipline-specific quotas. Please take note that applicants who plan to attend Stanford for at least two years will be given preference.

How Can I Complete the Knight Hennesy Scholarship Application?
To be eligible to receive this scholarship, adhere to the following application guidelines:
(1) To begin your online application, you need to register here.
(2) The online application for admission, which includes academic and personal data, must be filled out and submitted. Basic demographic and biographical information, along with a description of your hobbies and interests, will be requested by the university.
(3) The following paperwork needs to be turned in:
- For each college or graduate school you attended for a full academic year or more, submit an unofficial or self-reported transcript reflecting your academic performance. You can download the self-reported transcript template if you are unable to offer an unofficial transcript. If relevant, the degree awarded and the date of conferral must be listed on your transcript. Transcripts of study abroad experiences are not required if they are listed on your transcript.A résumé that highlights your accomplishments and background—both professional and personal—will be included. One page for each decade of experience beyond high school is our rule.

• How are you going to follow your life’s purpose? How can your Knight-Hennessy Scholars experience and Stanford education help with this?
• Two answers to short questions: Tell us eight unlikely facts about yourself, please. Please list three current aims or objectives (getting accepted to Stanford or being chosen as a Knight-Hennessy Scholar cannot be included in that list). - Video narrative: The maximum length of your video is two minutes. It’s okay if it takes you just 30 seconds to respond. You are under no duty or expectation to talk for the entire allotted amount of time.
