Scholarship Reports
The recipient of the Utrecht Excellence Scholarship receives:
• The tuition cost, or
• According to the Immigration and Naturalization Service (IND), a residence visa for study is connected to the tuition cost plus the income needed for a year.
• If a master’s program lasts two years, the scholarship may be extended for the second year.
Qualifications for the Utrecht Excellence Scholarship
The applicant must meet each of the standards listed below in order to be eligible for the Utrecht Excellence Scholarship:
• English is the required language.
• All nations worldwide, with the exception of those in Europe, are eligible.
· Be in the top ten percent of your class upon graduation.
• Being ineligible for assistance under the Dutch study grant and loan system and lacking a European Union passport.
• Have finished your bachelor’s degree or secondary education outside of the Netherlands.
• I’ve submitted an application for an overseas master’s program that will begin on September 1, 2025.
• Have the ability to meet the requirements for a Dutch residency permit or visa.
Selection criteria: Eligible candidates are chosen for a scholarship based on the following criteria:
• Students who do not meet one or more of these requirements are automatically disqualified from this scholarship.
1. Academic excellence and promise in the chosen field of study; 2. The academic quality and outcomes of prior qualifications, as demonstrated by grades, test scores, a writing sample, letters of recommendation, and proof of being in the top 10% of the class; 3. The quality and applicability of the motivation letter for the Master’s program (academic content, intercultural and communication skills, personal motivation);
4. The quality of the application for the Master’s program itself (completeness, accuracy, consistency).
How Can I Apply for the Excellence Scholarship at Utrecht?
To apply for this scholarship, please adhere to these guidelines:
(1). Your scholarship application will be removed if you do not initially apply for a Master’s program.
(2). To submit a comprehensive application for the selected Master program, follow these steps:
• Review the prerequisites for admission to this Master’s program.
• Apply as soon as possible, ideally well in advance of the deadline; refer to the master’s program’s “When to apply” section.
• Download the master program application instructions.
• Visit the web portal and fill out the online form.
An email containing login credentials for the OSIRIS Online Application, where you can upload the necessary files, will be sent to you. You can also check the status of your application in the OSIRIS Online Application.
•The application cost must be paid.
(3). You will have the opportunity to apply for an Utrecht Excellence Scholarship starting on November 1st after submitting an application for the Master’s program.
• Please be aware that in order to be eligible for the scholarship, you must submit your master’s program application before the scholarship deadline if the master’s program due falls after the scholarship deadline.
(4). You can visit the Osiris Online Application after submitting an application for a Master’s program.
• Enter your Osiris username and password to log in.
• Select the “New application” link.
Respond to the questions about the Utrecht Excellence scholarship and provide the required paper or documents.
(5). The following document must be uploaded:
• Evidence of being in the top 10% of your graduating class, such as an official document from your university attesting to your graduation status.
(6). Send in your application.
