2025 Italian Government Scholarship (How to Apply)

International students can study master’s or doctoral degrees at prestigious Italian universities with the full funding of the Italian Government Scholarship 2025–2026. Tuition, medical insurance, and monthly payments of 900 euros are all covered by this scholarship.
In accordance with Law 288/55 and its ensuing amendments and additions, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI) seeks to support Italy’s economic system globally while advancing scientific and technological cooperation, international cultural exchange, and the Italian language and culture. Scholarships are available for study, training, and/or research in legally recognized and public higher education institutions in Italy.

- Courses Offered: All courses offered by universities approved by the Italian Ministry of University and Research (MUR) are open to applications. In any event, the candidate must confirm the course’s existence directly with the university of their choice.
- Program Period: Depending on the course type, the scholarship may last three, six, or nine months.
The due date is June 14, 2024.
Scholarship Reports
The following advantages are offered to the recipient of an Italian Government Scholarship:
• Medical and Health Insurance
For the duration of the grant, grantees will be protected by health and medical/accident insurance that MAECI has contracted for. Events resulting from pre-existing pathological and physical problems are not covered by insurance.
• The cost of tuition
Depending on each university’s regulation, grantees may not be required to pay enrollment or tuition fees. Enrollment fees are required for courses in Italian language and culture, which are not exempt.
• Grant of Funds
On a quarterly basis, grantees will receive a monthly allowance of 900 euros, which will be deposited into their Italian bank account.

- Candidates for Master’s Degree Programs in Italian Language and Culture and Higher Education in Arts, Music, and Dance (AFAM) With the exception of renewals, courses should not be more than 28 years old by the call’s end.
- Only international students who do not reside in Italy are eligible to apply.
- With the exception of renewals, candidates for PhD programs must not be older than 30 before the call’s deadline.
- For classes that are taught fully in English, proof of Italian ability is not necessary.
- Candidates for research projects under academic supervision must be under 40 by the call’s deadline; if they are, they must present a certificate attesting to their English language competency. The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) requires a minimum level of B2.
• In order to be admitted to the first year of a Master’s degree program in Italy, applicants must have completed a Bachelor’s degree in their home country; admittance to the second year is given to applicants who can demonstrate that they are keeping up with their first year of study. - Candidates must present a certificate attesting to their Italian language ability in order to enroll in courses on Italian language and culture. According to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), a minimum level of A2 is necessary.
Applicants must fulfill the academic requirements and entry requirements set forth by the relevant University or Institute in order to be admitted to an Italian AFAM Institute. Similarly, applicants must fulfill the academic requirements and entry requirements set forth by the University in order to be admitted to a PhD program in Italy. Additionally, they must present a letter of acceptance from the relevant Italian University. - Under the academic supervision of public universities or museums and archives, grants may be given for research projects conducted at Italian research institutions (such as the Italian Research Council (CNR), Italian National Institute of Health (ISS), Italian National Institute for Nuclear Physics (INFN), Italian National Institute for Astrophysics (INAF), and The Italian Institute for Environmental Protection and Research (ISPRA).
