For overseas students, the Helmut Veith Stipend for Females in Computer Science 2025–2026 is a fully paid grant. This award is available for master’s degree programs. For a maximum of two years, the scholarship provides EUR 7000 per year and waives all TU Wien tuition costs.
This scholarship honors the memory of a distinguished computer scientist who worked in the domains of software engineering, computer security, logic in computer science, and computer-aided verification. Helmut Veith was a fervent supporter and mentor of women in computer science who sadly died in March 2016.

Funding recipients are required to live in Austria for the duration of their study and demonstrate significant academic improvement. • 7000 euros a year for a maximum of two years.
Qualifications for the Helmut Veith Stipend
The candidate must meet each of the following criteria in order to be eligible for the Helmut Veith Stipend:
• All nations worldwide are eligible; English is the required language.
• A bachelor’s degree in mathematics or computer science (Bologna first cycle) or a related field
• Candidates must be eligible for admission to one of TU Wien’s English-taught master’s programs in computer science; the money will only be given to those who have been unconditionally admitted to the program.
- A thorough understanding of and enthusiasm for (at least one of) Helmut Veith’s research areas:
• Verification and formal methods.
• Computer science logic.
• Artificial Intelligence Foundations.
• Security of computers.

How Can I Apply for the Helmut Veith Stipend?
To receive the Helmut Veith Stipend for Females in Computer Science, please adhere to the guidelines below:
The following records are necessary:
• Curriculum Vitae
• Cover letter outlining the student’s application for support and any additional information they believe is pertinent
• A motivation letter outlining the student’s goals for enrolling in the Logic and Computation program, the need for financing, and the academic groups the student would like to collaborate with on their master’s thesis.
- First-degree, undergraduate, or advanced diplomas and/or certifications. A preliminary certificate that specifies the degree type and anticipated graduation date and is signed and stamped by the university providing the degree must be submitted if the final academic certificate is not yet available by the application deadline.
• Transcripts of university examination reports
• Two referees’ contact information (for recommendation letters)• Passport copy
• English language proficiency (TOEFL or equivalent)
