A prominent peace-builder with a proven track record of using faith-based engagement in conflict resolution, societal integration, and sustainable peace will receive the 2025 Commonwealth Peace Prize.

Qualifications for the 2025 Commonwealth Peace Prize
A living, distinguished, and long-serving person or Commonwealth citizen over 30 who:
• is regarded as a respected and trusted mediator between disputing parties, with a strong and extended track record of successful peacebuilding in Commonwealth societies, will be the recipient of the Commonwealth Peace Prize;
The Commonwealth values of tolerance, respect, understanding, moderation, celebration of cultural, racial, ethnic diversity, and religious freedom have been consistently promoted by those who have built sustainable mechanisms, institutions, or processes for dialogue that, according to objective evaluation, have contributed to a definitive end to conflict, lasting peace, social cohesion, or other observed positive change; and
It has employed religion and/or Commonwealth Charter values to establish constructive and long-lasting peace in pursuit of inclusive development and free and democratic society.
Nominations are open to anyone who have won various international peace prizes or who have been acknowledged for their outstanding work.
Advantages of the 2025 Commonwealth Peace Prize
• A citation and a letter of recognition detailing a £50,000 monetary award to be used for further work will be given to the winner.
The The Commonwealth Peace Prize aims to:
- foster dialogue and creative peacebuilding techniques to support greater harmony throughout the Commonwealth;
- increase awareness of and capacity for effective youth-led and intergenerational partnerships that foster peace across the diverse geographical, cultural, religious, and ethnic groups in the Commonwealth.
Qualifications for Nomination
On September 21, 2024, International Peace Day, nominations will be accepted until January 17, 2025.
Official nominations may only be submitted by Heads of Commonwealth Accredited Organizations, non-resident High Commissioners, or member governments acting through their High Commissions in London.
The Commonwealth Secretariat must receive nominations by 23:59 GMT on January 17, 2025, via email at PeacePrize@commonwealth.int.
•Nominations must be sent in as a formal letter of recommendation along with an impact biography that details how the candidate satisfies all requirements.

How to Apply (Step by Step) for the Commonwealth Peace Prize 2025
Interested and eligible applicants should do the following to apply for the Commonwealth Peace Prize:
• Click the button below to get to the program’s webpage.
• The Commonwealth Faith Festival project’s Commonwealth Peace Prize Committee will create the initial shortlist for a team of judges to review.
• In February 2025, a distinguished team of judges will choose a winner.
At a special event held during Commonwealth Week in 2025, the Secretary-General will declare the winner.
• A citation and a letter of recognition detailing a £50,000 monetary award to be used for further work will be given to the winner.
•There will be no publication of the final shortlist of applicants. Nonetheless, shortlisted individuals might receive invitations to take part in Commonwealth Faith Festival events.
